We outline the fabrication of a highly sensitive biosensor for phytic acid (PA) determination using the extract of rice sprout and SBA@DABCO nanoparticles. The nanoparticles were first added to the surface of small paper disks. After drying, the extract of rice sprout in phosphate buffered saline was immobilized on the paper disks.

Objective: To study broccoli aqueous extract effects on sperm factors and the expression of genes Catsper1, Catsper2, Arl4a, Sox5, and Sox9 in sperm factors in mice.
Zinc (Zn) is one of the important elements of plant growth, however, at elevated level it is toxic. Exposure of Chinese cabbage to elevated Zn concentrations (5 and 10 μM ZnCl) resulted in enhancement of total sulfur and organic sulfur concentration. Transcript level of APS reductase (APR) as a key enzyme in biosynthesis of primary sulfur compounds (cysteine and thiols), was up-regulated in both shoot and root upon exposure to elevated Zn, which was accompanied by an increase in the concentration of cysteine in both tissues.

Application of 10 mM calcium in the form of CaCl in the growth medium of plants only slightly ameliorated growth impairment by NaCl and KCl, but almost completely prevented negative effects of NaSO and KSO on plant biomass production. This effect was calcium specific, as MgCl ameliorated sulfate toxicity to a much lower extent.

In this paper, a new and facile method for the electrochemical determination of l-tyrosine was designed. First, 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane-functionalized silica nanoparticles were added to a paper disc. Then, the banana peel tissue and the mediator potassium hexacyanoferrate were dropped onto the paper, respectively.

The aim of this study was to determine the contributions of sodium and the two anions to the different toxicities of chloride and sulfate salinity. The effects of the different salts on physiological parameters, mineral nutrient composition and expression of genes of sulfate transport and assimilation were studied.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBrassica juncea seedlings contained a twofold higher glucosinolate content than B. rapa and these secondary sulfur compounds accounted for up to 30% of the organic sulfur fraction. The glucosinolate content was not affected by H2S and SO2 exposure, demonstrating that these sulfur compounds did not form a sink for excessive atmospheric supplied sulfur.
