Objective: This study offers a retrospective assessment of a single-center experience using cerebrospinal fluid catheters to reduce the risk of perioperative spinal cord injury in patients undergoing single-staged complex endovascular juxtarenal or thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair.

Results: A total of 97 patients were included. On average, 70.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the use of central venous catheters (CVCs) in chronic hemodialysis patients in Vienna, noting that this practice is still common despite the preference for arteriovenous (AV) fistulas.
  • A cross-sectional analysis of 335 CVC-based hemodialysis patients revealed a 42.5% prevalence of CVC use, with most patients eligible for either AV fistula or graft creation.
  • The findings suggest that improving access to in-house vascular surgery could reduce reliance on CVCs and associated complications in hemodialysis patients in Vienna.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus), an acute respiratory disorder, is caused by SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome). The high prevalence of COVID-19 infection has drawn attention to a frequent illness symptom: olfactory and gustatory dysfunction. The primary purpose of this manuscript is to create a Computer-Assisted Diagnostic (CAD) system to determine whether a COVID-19 patient has normal, mild, or severe anosmia.

: Sutton-Kadir syndrome describes a rare pathology that commonly includes an aneurysm of the inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery in combination with a celiac trunk stenosis or occlusion, often caused by median arcuate ligament compression. Several therapeutic approaches exist including open surgical, endovascular, and hybrid treatments. Other combinations of visceral artery aneurysms and upstream stenoses exist but the cumulative body of evidence on these combinations is weak due to their rarity.

Objectives: Surveillance after endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) and fenestrated EVAR (FEVAR) is mainly directed by one-size-fits-all approaches instead of personalized decision making, even though treatment strategies and often endografts themselves are tailor-made to adjust for individual patients. We propose a modular imaging algorithm that escalates surveillance imaging based on invasiveness and need.

Materials And Methods: In this retrospective observational study of single-center data, results of a modular imaging algorithm were analyzed.

Baby foods contain these toxic heavy metals which occur naturally or from pollution in the environment. The purpose of this research is to investigate the concentration of heavy metals in the biscuit samples that are commonly used in Iraq as food babies. The concentrations of three metals viz zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), and cadmium (Cd) are measured using atomic absorption spectroscopy (Buck Scientific/USA, 210 VGA).

Objectives: Several imaging modalities have been suggested for surveillance after fenestrated endovascular aortic repair in general and endoleak detection in specific. In the present project a coded excitation-based ultrasound (B-Flow) was investigated for endoleak detection after complex endovascular aortic repair.

Methods: Patients post complex endovascular aortic repair (FEVAR or T/FEVAR) undergoing follow-up appointments including ultrasonography of the aorta at a vascular and endovascular surgery outpatient center were included in the study.

Sprouted grains are gaining popularity as functional food ingredients. This study aimed to evaluate the lipid and fatty acid composition of eight sprouted grains (millet, amaranth, quinoa, wheat, rye, barley, buckwheat, and oat). The method used was germination for up to 72 h at temperatures ranging from 19-23 °C.

Background And Objective: Lung cancer is an important cause of death and morbidity around the world. Two of the primary computed tomography (CT) imaging markers that can be used to differentiate malignant and benign lung nodules are the inhomogeneity of the nodules' texture and nodular morphology. The objective of this paper is to present a new model that can capture the inhomogeneity of the detected lung nodules as well as their morphology.

Introduction: Fenestrated endovascular aortic repair (FEVAR) has become a popular custom-made treatment option for juxtarenal and pararenal aneurysms. It has been previously investigated whether octogenarians as a distinct subgroup are at increased risk for adverse outcomes after FEVAR. With diverging results and an inconclusive understanding of age as a risk factor in general, an analysis of the historical data of a single center was conducted to add to the available body of evidence and further investigate the effect of age as a continuous risk factor.

Endoleaks are the most common complication after endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). Their correct identification is one of the main objectives of surveillance protocols after EVAR. So far, computed tomography angiography (CTA), contrast-enhanced (CEUS) and Duplex ultrasound (DUS), as well as magnetic resonance angiography, have been investigated for their ability to detect endoleaks.

Background: Intimate knowledge of the materials used in endovascular aortic interventions is essential for trainees and supporting staff taking part in an endovascular intervention. Training courses can help to familiarize trainees with the equipment. However, the pandemic has changed the landscape of hands-on training courses significantly.

A whole-grain diet is associated with the prevention of metabolic syndromes, including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Sprouting improves the nutritional profile and bioactive properties of grains, which are important for use as raw ingredients in the food industry. The aim of this review was to examine the lipid and fatty acid composition of germinated grains.

Purpose: Fenestrated endovascular aortic repair (FEVAR) is technically more challenging when performed after a failing EVAR procedure (FEVAR after EVAR). This study aims to assess the technical outcome of FEVAR after EVAR and to identify factors that may influence complication rates.

Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted at a single department of vascular and endovascular surgery.

Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication following endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). An association of AKI with patient survival after fenestrated EVAR (FEVAR) is currently under investigation.

Methods: Patients undergoing FEVAR between April 2013 and June 2020 were included in the study.

A multifunctional nano-films of cellulose acetate (CA)/magnesium ortho-vanadate (MOV)/magnesium oxide/graphene oxide wound coverage was fabricated. Through fabrication, different weights of the previously mentioned ingredients were selected to receive a certain morphological appearance. The composition was confirmed by XRD, FTIR, and EDX techniques.

Coded excitation ultrasound investigations have the potential to augment the resolution, increase the efficiency, and expand the possibilities of noninvasive diagnostic imaging. B-Flow ultrasound, a type of digitally encoded imaging, was developed more than 20 years ago with the aim to optimize the visualization of blood flow. It has been investigated for a plethora of applications so far.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) is a rare and benign nonLangerhans cell histiocytosis. RDD commonly affects children and young adults typically presenting with massive, painless, and bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy. Extranodal involvement is present in about 40% of cases, and bone marrow infiltration is rare and unusual.

In this paper, a machine learning-based system for the prediction of the required level of respiratory support in COVID-19 patients is proposed. The level of respiratory support is divided into three classes: class 0 which refers to minimal support, class 1 which refers to non-invasive support, and class 2 which refers to invasive support. A two-stage classification system is built.
