The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have been attracted increasing attentions due to their carcinogenicity and teratogenicity. Adsorption is widely considered one of the most potential technologies for PAHs removal. In this study, we prepared two kinds of oxygen-rich biochar derived from waste wood to investigate the PAHs adsorption performance, and the molecular simulation was used to build the 16 priority PAHs, 23 nitrated PAHs, 9 oxygenated PAHs adsorption model.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emission not only cause the environmental pollution, but also severely threaten human health as they are known to be toxic and carcinogenic. This study investigates the effects of biochar on removing the VOCs emission from asphalt. The biochar was obtained from the pyrolyzed productions of pig manure, waste wood and straw biomasses.

Road safety barriers protect vehicles from roadside hazards by redirecting errant vehicles in a safe manner as well as providing high levels of safety during and after impact. This paper focused on transition safety barrier systems which were located at the point of attachment between a bridge and roadside barriers. The aim of this study was to provide an overview of the behavior of transition systems located at upstream bridge rail with different designs and performance levels.
