Echocardiographic Evaluation of the Effect of Long-Term Methylphenidate Use on Cardiovascular Functions.

Objective: ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders, seen in children and adolescents, and is often treated with various pharmacological agents, especially methylphenidate. There are differing opinions in the literature regarding the cardiovascular safety of long-term methylphenidate use. Studies suggest that the drug may increase the risk of hypertension, myocardial infarction, ventricular arrhythmia, sudden cardiac death, cardiomyopathy, heart failure (HF), pulmonary hypertension, and stroke.

[Multicentric Screening of Local Antibiotic Resistance in Uncomplicated Urinary System Infections: 1850 Patients from 37 Centers].

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.

Activity of CDK4/6 inhibitors and parameters affecting survival in elderly patients in age-subgroups: Turkish Oncology Group (TOG) retrospective study.

Highly selective inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6 (CDK4/6is) have emerged as a standart of care for first- and second-line therapies in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) for HR+/HER2- metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. It has been reported that combination therapy is more effective than ET alone and is safe in elderly patients as well as young patients. Nevertheless, elderly and very old patients with HR+/HER2-MBC treated with CDK4/6 inhibitor (CDK4/6i) combinations are relatively underrepresented in randomized controlled trials.

Are Nutrition Literacy and Sustainable Dietary Habits Associated with Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes Developmental Risks?

Objective: This study aimed to examine the association of nutritional literacy levels and sustainable nutritional behaviors with the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in the Turkish adult population.

Methods: Sociodemographic information, disease history, nutritional habits, and physical activity levels of 3146 volunteer individuals (male = 1590, female = 1556) between the ages of 40-75 were collected using a questionnaire form and face-to-face interviews. The sustainable nutritional behaviors of the participants were evaluated using Turkish validated scales for Sustainable and Healthy Eating Behavior (SHE) and nutritional literacy levels with the Evaluation Instrument of Nutrition Literacy on Adults (EINLA).

Association of the Naples Prognostic Score with Long-Term Adverse Events in Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia After Below-the-Knee Endovascular Revascularization.

Objectives: Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) is the most severe manifestation of peripheral artery disease (PAD) and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. This study was conducted to determine the effects of an algorithm training booklet, which was based on Orem's self-care deficit nursing theory, specific to lower extremity peripheral artery disease, on pain, activities of daily living, self-care agency, walking distance, quality of life, and other symptoms. This mixed-method study included a qualitative stage using face-to-face in-depth individual interviews and a pretest-posttest semiexperimental design quantitative stage. In-depth interviews were conducted to highlight self-care needs and symptoms and to create the booklet.

Factors influencing the prescription of add-on long-acting muscarinic antagonists in real-world asthma management: Insights from a national registry.

Current guidelines recommend adding long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs) in patients with uncontrolled asthma, despite the use of moderate to high doses of inhaled steroid-long-acting beta agonists (ICS/LABA). This study aims to analyze the factors related to the prescription of add-on LAMA in clinical practice for asthma patients, shedding light on physicians' preferences. This study included adult asthma patients on add-on LAMA and ICS/LABA monitored for at least one year in a national registry comprising 2053 asthmatics.

Objective: In the current study, we aimed to ascertain the levels of heavy metals and radioactive elements in the ovarian follicular fluids of pregnant and non-pregnant Kyrgyz mares.

Materials And Methods: To this end, follicular fluids were obtained from 49 Kyrgyz mares aged 3-5 years. The mares were in various stages of pregnancy (Group 1, 27) or were non-pregnant (Group 2, 22).

Introduction: The extent to which different types of attention are affected in RRMS based on disease duration has not been extensively analyzed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine whether MS patients differ compared to healthy individuals in a homogeneous sample of RRMS patients in terms of attention types and from which year of MS attention deficit starts. Smart Crowding on pH-Induced Elasticity of Weakly Anionic poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide)-Based Semi-Interpenetrating Polymer Networks via Integration of Methacrylic Acid and Linear Polyacrylamide Chains.

Weakly anionic semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (semi-IPNs), comprised of copolymer poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-methacrylic acid) P(NIPA-MA) and linear poly(acrylamide) (LPA) chains as macromolecular crowding agent, are designed to evaluate pH-induced swelling and elasticity. Uniaxial compression testing after swelling in various pH-conditions is used to analyze the compressive elasticity as a function of swelling pH and LPA-content. The swelling of P(NIPA-MA)/LPA semi-IPNs is strongly pH-dependent due to MA units incorporated into the copolymer network which already exhibits temperature-sensitivity by presence of PNIPA counterpart.
