Short-term Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy Administration in the Pediatric Emergency Department: Feasibility, Safety, and Outcome.

Objectives: The practice of administration of intravenous (IV) antimicrobial therapy in outpatient settings (OPAT) is a low-cost alternative to in-patient admission and treatment. There is, however, limited evidence supporting OPAT management protocols for children. The primary objective of this study was to describe the use of pediatric emergency-based OPAT, as well as the safety of this practice.

Management of convulsive status epilepticus in children: an adapted clinical practice guideline for pediatricians in Saudi Arabia.

Objective:: To increase the use of evidence-based approaches in the diagnosis, investigations and treatment of Convulsive Status Epilepticus (CSE) in children in relevant care settings.

Method:: A Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) adaptation group was formulated at a university hospital in Riyadh. The group utilized 2 CPG validated tools including the ADAPTE method and the AGREE II instrument.

Procedural sedation for pediatric patients in the emergency department at King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh, K.S.A.

Unlabelled: Procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) has become the standard of care for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures undertaken in the Emergency Department (ED). In the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) of King Khalid University Hospital (KKUH), which is a major teaching hospital in Riyadh Kingdom of Saudi Arabia we developed a standard protocol for PSA since 2005. The aim of this article is to report the experience at KKUH in pediatric PSA.
