We have previously reported Israa, immune-system-released activating agent, as a novel gene nested in intron 8 of the mouse Zmiz1 gene. We have also shown that Israa encodes for a novel FYN-binding protein and might be involved in the regulation of T-cell activation. In this report, we demonstrate that Israa gene product regulates the expression of a pool of genes involved in T-cell activation and signaling.

Background: This study evaluated the feasibility and reliability of high-resolution ultrasonography (HRUS) of the radial nerve in the early, postoperative period after operative stabilization of humeral shaft fractures.
Methods: This study enrolled patients between September 2015 and April 2018 with a humeral shaft fracture who were assessed with HRUS within 2 weeks after surgery. Based on the ultrasound artifacts, the examiners subjectively defined quality of ultrasound as "bad" or "good.
Objective: To asses clinically and radiographically the effect of using two types of coronal plug materials in revascularization of non-vital immature teeth.
Methods: A total of 26 necrotic immature permanent anterior teeth were enrolled for pulp revascularization using a double antibiotic mix for root canal disinfection. They were randomly divided into the following based on coronal plug materials used: Biodentine (Group I) and white Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (Group II; n = 13).
Background: In this study, we share our experience of different operative techniques undertaken on 584 eumycetoma patients in the Gezira Mycetoma Center.
Methods: This is a retrospective, descriptive, hospital-based study, conducted to review the surgical treatment of eumycetoma patients. We included all patients diagnosed with eumycetoma who underwent a surgical operation in the center during January 2013-December 2016.
Background: The contribution of genetic factors such as the presence of ApoE allele e4 and its association with psychological consequences post stroke remains unknown within Middle-Eastern regions. This study examined the association of ApoE genotype with cognitive impairment and mood in stroke patients and compare with healthy older adults in Bahrain.
Method: A prospective sample of n = 62 stroke patients (case group) and n = 53 healthy ageing individuals (control group) were eligible to participate in the study.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) has become prevalent in the Arabian Gulf area with high incidence in Bahrain due to environmental influences and genetic susceptibilities, but there is a lack of study into human leukocyte antigen (HLA) types in patients with MS in Bahrain. The present study aimed to study the HLA types expressed in MS patients compared with in control subjects. Case Presentation: Two siblings, aged 18 years and 15 years, from a consanguineous family presented with pyramidal signs and symptoms since infancy and developmental delay.
High-dose dexamethasone (HD-DXM) is debated as a second-line therapy for chronic Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in children. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of HD-DXM as an emergency therapy in uncontrolled bleeding in children with chronic ITP and to assess its immunological effect on dendritic cells (DCs) percentage and their co-stimulatory markers CD86 and CD83. Totally, 20 children previously diagnosed as chronic ITP were enrolled in this study and all admitted to hospital with uncontrolled bleeding.

Introduction: The safety and efficacy of prasugrel and ticagrelor in patients with diabetes mellitus presenting with acute coronary syndrome and treated with percutaneous coronary intervention remain to be assessed.
Methods: All diabetes patients admitted for acute coronary syndrome and enrolled in the REgistry of New Antiplatelets in patients with Myocardial Infarction (RENAMI) were compared before and after propensity score matching. Net adverse cardiovascular events (composite of death, stroke, myocardial infarction and BARC 3-5 bleedings) and major adverse cardiovascular events (composite of death, stroke and myocardial infarction) were the co-primary endpoints.
The effect of 20552 ATCC (T2) or CH 5 (T3) in combination with yoghurt starter (1:1) on the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of the bioactive peptides present in buffalo's yoghurt was studied. The SDS-PAGE results indicate that all caseins were completely hydrolyzed by both strains, whereas whey protein fractions were still present. All starter cultures have the ability to produce low-molecular-weight bioactive peptides, most of which were originated from β-casein and fewer from αs casein.

Methods: In this multicenter prospective study, cardiology fellows selected the access site (among femoral, right and left radial artery) for coronary angiography. All bleeding events related to the access site and all complications (a composite of all bleedings and artery occlusion) were the co-primary safety end points.
