Background: Most trauma occurs among young male subjects in Qatar. We examined the predictive values of the delta shock index (DSI), defined as the change in the shock index (SI) value from the scene to the initial reading in the emergency unit (, subtracting the calculated SI at admission from SI at the scene), at a Level 1 trauma center.
Aim: To explore whether high DSI is associated with severe injuries, more interventions, and worse outcomes [, blood transfusion, exploratory laparotomy, ventilator-associated pneumonia, hospital length of stay (HLOS), and in-hospital mortality] in trauma patients.
This is an interim analysis of the Beta-blocker (Propranolol) use in traumatic brain injury (TBI) based on the high-sensitive troponin status (BBTBBT) study. The BBTBBT is an ongoing double-blind placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial with a target sample size of 771 patients with TBI. We sought, after attaining 50% of the sample size, to explore the impact of early administration of beta-blockers (BBs) on the adrenergic surge, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and the TBI biomarkers linked to the status of high-sensitivity troponin T (HsTnT).

Its high moisture content, however, promotes the growth of bacteria, molds, and yeast during storage commonly result in product degradation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of gamma irradiation (GI) and ozone (OZ) as bee pollen preservation methods for longer storage time, as well as whether they are influenced by pollen species.

This is a retrospective analysis of all trauma-related mortality between 2013 and 2018. Patients were divided and analyzed based on the time of mortality (early (≤48 h) vs late (>48 h)), and within different age groups.

Furthermore, we investigated the possible correlation between Pentacam topographic indices and the quality of life of patients with keratoconus.
Methods: This cross-sectional study evaluated keratoconus patients at An-Najah University Hospital in 2019, diagnosed through clinical examination and corneal tomography.
This study presents a practical computer-based design program for a power cable network called "Power Cables Graphical User Interface" (PCGUI). This program is mainly for academic education, consulting electrical designers, primary engineers, and technical personnel with open-source code and a simple user interface. As a low/medium-voltage cable selection program, PCGUI will represent an essential part of the design for any electrical system, including different and complex analytic procedures based on various international standards ("IEEE, IEC, BS, NEC, NPFA 70, and local applied country standards.

At least 90% of SDS patients have pathogenic variants in the first gene associated with the disease with very low allelic heterogeneity; three variants, derived from events of genetic conversion between and its pseudogene, , provided the alleles observed in about 62% of SDS patients. We performed a reanalysis of the available WES files of a group of SDS patients with biallelic pathogenic variants, studying the results by next bioinformatic and protein structural analysis.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of Qatar Trauma Registry (QTR) was conducted among patients (age ≥14y) who were hospitalized with TBI. Data were collected and analyzed based on the gender and age.
Introduction. Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome (SDS) is an autosomal-recessive disorder characterized by neutropenia, pancreatic exocrine insufficiency, skeletal dysplasia, and an increased risk for leukemic transformation. Biallelic mutations in the SBDS gene have been found in about 90% of patients.

It is a leading preventable cause of visual impairment in the world and a cause of blindness in those under 75 years old in developing countries. We aimed to explore the prevalence and associated risk factors of DR among diabetic patients in the West Bank.

Thus, the current study was designed to investigate how adding B to the diet of male goats affected their testicular and thyroid activity. For that purpose, twelve male goats were divided randomly into two groups (six animals each); control group that was fed the basal diet and B group that was fed the basal diet containing 70 mg B/kg diet for 6 months.

The purpose of this work is to determine the effect of coatings containing chitosan (CH) as well as its nanoparticles (CHNPs) as thin films on the quality and shelf-life of apricots stored at room (25 ± 3 °C) and cold (5 ± 1 °C) temperatures.

The goal of this research is to see how well a starch-silver nanoparticle (St-AgNPs) coating affects the physical, chemical, and microbiological qualities of strawberries during postharvest life. Additionally, the effect of washing with running water on silver concentration in coated strawberry fruit was studied by an inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES).

It showed that diagnostic systems with special sensors are the key to increasing the reliability of powerful turbines and hydro generators. The application of sensors in monitoring systems was considered, and the requirements for the sensors used were analyzed.

However, optimal TXA dose and need of a second infusion on hospital arrival remain undetermined. We investigated the efficacy and safety of the second in-hospital dose of TXA in injured patients receiving 1 g of TXA in the prehospital setting.

The proposed estimator is a pilot-dependent estimator and follows the online learning approach in the training phase and the offline approach in the practical implementation phase. The estimator does not deal with complete certainty for channels' statistics and attains superior performance in the presence of a limited number of pilots.

We aimed to evaluate the patterns and effects of on-admission hyperglycemia and inflammatory response in a level 1 trauma center. We hypothesized that higher initial readings of blood glucose and cytokines are associated with severe injuries and worse in-hospital outcomes in trauma patients.

Optimised regression learner techniques (ORLTs) are rarely used for calculating shear capacity in steel beam research. This study proposes a new approach for calculating the maximum shear capacity of steel beams with trapezoidal corrugated webs (SBCWs) by using ORLTs.

We hypothesized that application of these guidelines would significantly reduce the I activity utilized by an academic tertiary hospital in Jordan.
Methods: All DTC patients managed at Jordan University Hospital (JUH) between 1/2009 and 6/2019 were classified according to the 2015 ATA risk category and I activity was assigned accordingly.

In patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and complete iliac occlusion, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) using a bifurcated stent graft has clear advantages over aortouniiliac stent grafts. Bifurcated stent grafts had improved hemodynamic flow and increased primary and secondary patency rates compared with aortouniiliac stent grafts. The use of aortouniiliac stent grafts with femorofemoral crossover bypass is associated with complications including infection of the prosthesis, steal phenomenon, and the associated difficulties for further endovascular access at the site of the femoral anastomosis.
