The malignant gliomas are most destructive brain tumor having low drug response. The thermosensitive hydrogel from pluronic F127 (PF127) and N,N,N-trimethyl chitosan (TMC) is developed as a drug delivery system for anticancer drug docetaxel (DTX) to the glioblastoma multiforme. The influence of TMC on morphology, physico-chemical, mechanical, and release properties of PF127 based thermosensitive hydrogel is investigated here.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: This study was undertaken to compare the outcome of supervised and home exercises with respect to range of motion (ROM), pain, and Single Assessment Numeric Evaluation (SANE). We further correlated the ROM recovery and pain reduction as well.
Methods: The study included 49 patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
Aim: The objective of this study was to develop a mitochondria-targeted anticancer drug, docetaxel (DTX), for chemotherapy.
Materials & Methods: The DTX was conjugated to 4-carboxybutyl triphenylphosphonium (TPP) to enhance mitochondrial targeting, and the TPP-DTX conjugate was further loaded into folate-cholesteryl albumin (FA-chol-BSA) nanoparticles (NPs) to improve its biocompatibility.
Results & Conclusion: In vitro studies showed that TPP-DTX and its NP primarily accumulated in the mitochondria; generated high reactive oxygen species, leading to mitochondrial disruption and cell apoptosis; and had a higher cytotoxicity against cancer cells.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of custom-molded foot orthoses on foot pain and balance in children with symptomatic flexible flat foot 1 month and 3 months after fitting foot orthosis.
Method: A total of 24 children over 6 years old with flexible flat feet and foot pain for at least 6 months were recruited for this study. Their resting calcaneal stance position and calcaneal pitch angle were measured.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of custom molded foot orthoses on children with growing pains of the lower extremities.
Methods: Children with growing pains were recruited during a clinic visit. None had any bony deformities, inflammatory joint disease or depression.
