In breast-conserving surgery (BCS), clear resection margins are crucial to prevent recurrence. Accurate imaging is vital for precise BCS, with MRI being the most accurate. However, MRI has limitations in identifying the exact extent of breast cancer in patients who have undergone neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT).

Many clinicians theoretically assume that a high postoperative vault leads to rapid endothelial damage, but no study has yet proven this hypothesis. We conducted a paired-eye study to compare changes in corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) between high and low postoperative vault groups.

PPCRE dramatically increased nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandin E (PGE) generation depending on the concentration while exhibiting no cytotoxicity.

However, inter-instrument differences in corneal endothelial cell density (ECD) after pIOL implantation have not yet been reported. This study aimed to compare automated corneal endothelial cell analysis between CellChek-20 (Konan Medical, Hyogo, Japan) and EM-4000 (Tomey, Nagoya, Japan) in healthy and postoperative eyes with pIOL.

Many head and neck cancer (HNC) cells have been reported to overexpress EGFR; therefore, anti-EGFR therapies have been attempted in patients with HNC. However, its clinical efficacy is limited owing to the development of drug resistance.

The introduction of a well-designed structure improved the rise time from 12.6 μs to 115 ns, albeit at the expense of the responsivity, which decreased from 1.

This was a retrospective, matched, and case-control study (1:2) controlled for preoperative central corneal thickness and refractive error that compared early refractive and visual outcomes after SMILE using VISUMAX 800 and VISUMAX 500 to treat myopia. We included 50 eyes that underwent the VISUMAX 800 SMILE and 100 eyes that underwent the VISUMAX 500 SMILE.

The detection of biological warfare agents (BWAs) is especially vital within military and counter-terrorism contexts, essential in defending against biological threats. Traditional methods, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), are limited by their need for specific settings, impacting their adaptability and versatility.

Purpose: Establishing a development environment for machine learning is difficult for medical researchers because learning to code is a major barrier. This study aimed to improve the accuracy of a postoperative vault value prediction model for implantable collamer lens (ICL) sizing using machine learning without coding experience.
Methods: We used Orange data mining, a recently developed open-source, code-free machine learning tool.
Aim: We compared the association between the baseline and average lipid parameters over time and the coronary artery calcification (CAC) risk.
Methods: Participants who underwent annual (biannual) health examinations and coronary artery computed tomography to measure CAC at least twice between March 2010 and December 2019, with a baseline CAC of 0, were included. The levels of apolipoprotein B (ApoB), Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA1), ApoB/ApoA1, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), TG/HDL-C, and TC/HDL-C were measured or calculated.
Backgruound: The association between low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) levels and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in different age groups within the diabetes mellitus (DM) population remains unclear. The cohort study was conducted to investigate this relationship.
Methods: We assessed the 2009 to 2012 Korean National Health Screening and National Health Insurance Service records, with follow-up to the primary outcome (myocardial infarction [MI] or stroke) or December 2018.

Purpose: Orthokeratology (ortho-K) is widely used to control myopia. Overnight ortho-K lens fitting with the selection of appropriate parameters is an important technique for achieving successful reductions in myopic refractive error. In this study, we developed a machine-learning model that could select ortho-K lens parameters at an expert level.

Retroreflection has been used as an alternative signal to develop analytical methods because it can be detected by using a simple instrument comprising a white light source and a camera. Here, we report a novel reporter protein that couples the capability of CFPS and the simplicity of retroreflection signal detection.

Early recurrence after curative resection of pancreatic cancer is an obstacle to long-term survival. We retrospectively reviewed 162 patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer who underwent curative resection.

The immune-enhancing activity of the combination of Platycodon grandiflorum and Salvia plebeian extracts (PGSP) was evaluated through macrophage activation using RAW264.7 cells. PGSP (250-1000 μg/mL) showed a higher release of NO in a dose-dependent manner.

Over the past decade, exfoliated 2D materials and electron-beam lithography have been used extensively to demonstrate feasibility on single devices. But for these devices to be used in the real-world systems, it is necessary to demonstrate good device performance similar to lab-based devices with repeatability of the results from device to device and a path to large scale manufacturing.

We studied a nationwide cross-sectional cohort of the Fifth Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2010-2011. FLD was defined as nonalcoholic FLD (NAFLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated FLD (MAFLD).
