Clinical Readiness for Practice of Nursing Students: A Concept Analysis.

Introduction: The concept of clinical readiness for practice among nursing students is yet to be analyzed, and there is a lack of empirical evidence on its usage among academics and clinicians.

Methods: This concept analysis is anchored on a systematic literature review that adhered to the PRISMA guidelines and incorporated the eight iterative steps of Walker and Avant's concept analysis method. This concept analysis method involved: (1) choosing a concept; (2) determining the objectives of the analysis; (3) identifying usages of the concept; (4) determining the defining attributes; (5) identifying a model case; (6) identifying other cases, including borderline, contrary, and related cases; (7) identifying antecedents and consequences; and (8) defining empirical references.

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in a patient with polycystic kidney disease without underlying risk factors: a case report.

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) is an extremely rare, chronic granulomatous inflammatory condition thought to arise secondary to a combination of obstruction, recurrent bacterial infection and an incomplete immune response although the etiology of XGP is more complex. We would like to report a case of XGP occurring in a patient with polycystic kidney disease (PCKD), which has not been previously documented in etiology. A 29-year-old woman presented to our hospital with right upper quadrant pain for 5 days.

A Case of Infected Renal Cyst Complicated by Renal Vein Thrombosis.

Renal vein thrombosis (RVT) is not an uncommon condition in patients occurring nephrotic syndrome. Renal cyst by bacterial infection is also rare. Only one case for RVT complicated with infected renal cyst is reported in the English literature.

Spontaneous Remission of Minimal Change Disease in a Colon Cancer Patient: A Case Report.

Introduction: Minimal change disease (MCD) is most often primary but may occur secondary to other systemic diseases such as malignancy. In secondary MCD, spontaneous remission of nephrotic syndrome after the treatment of related diseases without steroid therapy is rare.

Case Presentation: A 78-year-old man visited the outpatient clinic with foamy urine and generalized edema that had persisted for 2 months.

Idiopathic Spontaneous Rupture of a Subcostal Artery in a Patient Undergoing Hemodialysis: A Case Report.

The spontaneous rupture of a subcostal (12th intercostal) artery is exceptionally rare and could be fatal, requiring early diagnosis and treatment. Only one case of intercostal artery (ICA) bleeding in a patient undergoing hemodialysis (HD) has been reported. We additionally describe a 41-year-old man undergoing HD who presented with a spontaneous hemoperitoneum and shock resulting from a subcostal artery rupture.

Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of PS on the development and progression of renal fibrosis induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) in a mouse model.

Nanoporous electroporation needle for localized intracellular delivery in deep tissues.

The exogenous control of intracellular drug delivery has been shown to improve the overall efficacy of therapies by reducing nonspecific off-target toxicity. However, achieving a precise on-demand dosage of a drug in deep tissues with minimal damage is still a challenge. In this study, we report an electric-pulse-driven nanopore-electroporation (nEP) system for the localized intracellular delivery of a model agent in deep tissues.

Transition-Metal-Free Upscaling of 2,5-Furandicarboxylic Acid Synthesis and Investigation of the Reaction Mechanism.

An environmentally friendly oxidation system has proposed for the practical and scalable production of value-added 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid from 1 kg of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural. The system is composed of a simple base, oxygen, and a green solvent, thereby providing a sustainable and economical approach to organic synthesis. To gain insight into the mechanism of this oxidation process, NMR spectroscopic analysis and kinetic study are used for the mechanistic investigation of this environmentally friendly oxidation process.

Transition-Metal-Free Unusual Oxidative Cleavage of Homoallylic Alcohol and Its Application in the Upcycling of Terpene to Value-Added Chemicals.

A NaOtBu-O -mediated oxidative dehomologation of homoallylic alcohols into structurally different carboxylic acids through direct oxidative cleavage of either the C(sp )-C(sp ) or C(sp )-C(sp ) bond utilizing enolate chemistry was demonstrated. Furthermore, under transition-metal-free conditions, this protocol has been applied to convert terpene as biomass feedstock into value-added chemicals.

[The Validity and Reliability of the Korean Version of Readiness for Practice Survey for Nursing Students].

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Readiness for Practice Survey (K-RPS).

Method: The English Readiness for Practice Survey was translated into Korean using the Translation, Review, Adjudication, Pretesting, and Documentation (TRAPD) method. Secondary data analysis was performed using the dataset from the New Nurse e-Cohort study (Panel 2020) in South Korea.

The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio may indicate when to start hemodialysis.

We evaluated whether the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) could aid dialysis decision-making in combination with the clinical presentation and biochemical findings. We retrospectively evaluated the medical records of 279 patients who commenced chronic maintenance hemodialysis. We compared the laboratory findings at 6 months before dialysis to those at dialysis initiation.

Page kidney following spontaneous subcapsular hematoma immediately after kidney transplantation: a case report.

Background: Page kidney (PK) is the occurrence of kidney hypoperfusion and ischemia due to pressure on the kidney by a subcapsular hematoma (SH), a mass, or fluid collection. SH after renal transplantation may result in kidney ischemia and graft loss.

Case Presentation: We present a rare case of early spontaneous SH in an allograft kidney that led to a decrease in renal function.

Incidence and predictors of multimorbidity among older adults in Korea: a 10-year cohort study.

Background: Due to the rapid growth of the older adult population, multimorbidity has become a global concern for an aging society. Multimorbidity has been associated with poor health outcomes, including low quality of life and a high risk of mortality, resulting in an overload of healthcare systems. However, multimorbidity incidence and its related factors are poorly understood among older adults.

ECM1 is associated with endocrine resistance in ER breast cancers.

Extracellular matrix protein 1 (ECM1) is associated with a poor prognosis of breast cancers. However, the role of ECM1 with endocrine resistance in estrogen receptor-positive (ER) breast cancers has not been elucidated yet. We show that ECM1 promotes endocrine resistance in ER breast cancers.

Impact of phase angle and sarcopenia estimated by bioimpedance analysis on clinical prognosis in patients undergoing hemodialysis: A retrospective study.

Bioimpedance analysis (BIA) has been widely used in the evaluation of body composition in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. We conducted this study to evaluate impact of phase angle (PA) and sarcopenia measured by BIA on clinical prognosis in these patients.This longitudinal retrospective study enrolled patients who underwent hemodialysis between January 2016 and March 2019.

Acute kidney injury due to direct infiltration by lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma secreting IgG paraproteins: A case report.

Introduction: Waldenström's macroglobulinemia is a lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (LPL) associated with a monoclonal immunoglobulin M protein. Although acute kidney injury (AKI) due to immunoglobulin M paraprotein infiltration into the renal interstitium has been reported, there has been no report of AKI with invasion of the immunoglobulin G paraprotein into the renal interstitium in a patient with LPL.

Patient Concerns: A 65-year-old male was admitted to our hospital with fatigue and decreased renal function.

Background: The association between acute cholangitis (AC) and acute kidney injury (AKI) remains unclear. We investigated the incidence, and clinical course of AKI in patients with AC, and the long-term prognosis.

Methods: We performed a single-center retrospective study of patients hospitalized with AC in a tertiary care center from January 2011 to December 2017.

Stem cell therapies offer great promise in regenerative medicine to reinstate the normal function of diseased tissue, thereby avoiding the need for replacement. Purpose: This study aimed to test the efficacy of a nurse-led postpartum self-care (NLPPSC) intervention at reducing postpartum fatigue (PPF) and depressive mood and promoting maternal functioning among first-time mothers in Bangladesh.

Methods: A non-synchronized quasi-experimental design was used. First-time mothers were recruited during postpartum and assigned to the experimental or control group (34 each).

Acute interstitial nephritis associated with ingesting a Momordica charantia extract: A case report.

Rationale: Momordica charantia is often used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in Korea. Drug-induced acute interstitial nephritis (AIN) accounts for 60% to 70% of AIN cases. However, only 1 case of AIN associated with ingesting M charantia has been reported in the English literature.
