Background And Objectives: Among various emerging catheter-based treatments for severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR), the spacer device can reduce the regurgitation orifice without manipulating the valve leaflet. However, its clinical application has been hampered by traumatic anchoring to the myocardium and the coaxial alignment of the balloon resulting in insufficient TR reduction. This study aimed to evaluate the early-stage safety, technical feasibility, and preliminary efficacy of the novel atraumatic vertical spacer in patients with isolated severe TR.

Article Synopsis
  • Achieving C-reactive protein (CRP) normalization is key in predicting treatment response for Crohn's disease (CD) patients starting biological therapy, but data on success rates and timelines were previously limited.
  • In a study involving 183 patients from multiple centers, 67.2% reached CRP normalization within a median of 3.8 months.
  • Factors such as use of 5-aminosalicylic acid and high albumin levels were linked to early CRP normalization, while certain behavioral patterns were associated with lower likelihood of reaching this goal.

  • The study analyzed target lesion revascularization (TLR) incidents and their long-term mortality effects in patients with unprotected left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease after receiving drug-eluting stents (DES).
  • TLR occurred in 118 out of 1,397 patients, mainly within the first two years post-procedure, resulting in a cumulative incidence of 10.8% over ten years.
  • However, the presence of TLR did not show a significant correlation with increased mortality risk, suggesting that TLR may not impact long-term survival in these patients.
