Finger injuries caused by green onion cutting machines in Korean kitchens have unique characteristics of an incomplete amputation in which multiple parallel soft tissues and blood vessels are injured in the same form. In this study, we aimed to describe unique finger injuries and to report the treatment outcomes and experiences of performing possible soft tissue reconstructions. This case series study included 65 patients (82 fingers) from December 2011 to December 2015.

Sporolactobacillus inulinus is regarded as a potent D-PLA producer that reduces phenylpyruvate (PPA) with D-lactate dehydrogenases. In this study, PLA was produced by whole-cell bioconversion of S.

This study was performed to determine whether patients with humeral head coverage would show better functional outcomes than patients without humeral head coverage and to identify the factors for humeral head coverage after arthroscopic partial repair of massive tears.
Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 63 patients with massive rotator cuff tears who underwent arthroscopic partial repair between 2012 and 2018.
Highly branched gold nanoshells (BAuNSs) having hollow and porous morphologies have been fabricated via a seed-assembly-mediated strategy. Gold seed assemblies can be prepared by removal of SiOnanotemplates with help of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) molecules, which weakly link gold nanoparticles together even after SiOetching. L-3,4-dihydroxy phenylalanine (L-DOPA) and AgNOare employed as shape-directing agents to induce the anisotropic growth of gold.

Two α-L-arabinofuranosidases (BfdABF1 and BfdABF3) and a β-D-xylosidase (BfdXYL2) genes were cloned from ATCC 27679, and functionally expressed in BL21(DE3). BfdABF1 showed the highest activity in 50 mM sodium acetate buffer at pH 5.0 and 25°C.

In this work, we demonstrate the effects of laser wavelengths and nanoparticle surface conditions, as well as laser fluences, in the structural modification of porous gold nanoshells induced by picosecond pulse irradiation. Laser wavelengths play a critical role in the modification because irradiating laser pulses excite not only porous gold nanoshells but also gold nanospheres, which have been produced via the melting of irradiated porous gold nanoshells.

Hollow and porous gold nanoshells with high surface-enhanced Raman scattering efficiency have been produced via irradiating SiO2@Au@SiO2 nanoparticles with nanosecond laser pulses; the synthetic strategy mainly relies on the laser-induced surface melting of gold nanoparticles.
