Context.—: Fine-needle aspiration is an effective tool for sampling thyroid nodules; its results are classified according to the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (BSRTC), whose categories define malignancy risks.
Objective.
Background: We aimed to investigate the characteristics of pediatric ulcerative colitis (UC) at diagnosis in Korea.
Methods: This was a multicenter, registry-based, inception cohort study conducted in Korea between 2021 and 2023. Children and adolescents newly diagnosed with UC < 18 years were included.
Several meta-analyses have found no association between Graves' disease (GD) and an increased risk of incident diabetes; however, the intricate relationship between thyroid dysfunction and diabetes remains underexplored. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the risk of incident type 2 diabetes (T2DM) in a population newly diagnosed with GD, focusing on different treatment methods and treatment duration. This was a retrospective population-based study utilizing data from the Korean National Health Insurance database.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed fifty-nine consecutive patients with inoperable EHCC treated with PBT. The median prescribed dose of PBT was 50 GyE (range, 45-66 GyE) in 10 fractions.

Delivery of secretomes, which includes growth factors, cytokines, and mRNA, is critical in regenerative medicine for cell-to-cell communication. However, the harsh in vivo environment presents significant challenges for secretome delivery. Proteolytic enzymes shorten secretomes' half-lives, and secretomes tend to rapidly diffuse at defect sites.

Purpose: Given the aggressive nature and poor prognosis of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), adjuvant capecitabine has been the standard therapy for residual disease after preoperative systemic therapy (PST). However, the optimal sequence of postoperative radiation therapy (RT) and capecitabine remains unclear. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of concurrent RT and capecitabine (RT+CAP) versus sequential RT followed by capecitabine (RT→CAP) in patients with residual TNBC after PST.

Hamartomas are notably found in the lung, skin, heart, brain, and breast, while their occurrence in the head and neck is rare. We describe a case involving a 17-year-old male patient who presented with a mass in a unilateral palatine tonsil, discovered incidentally.

Material And Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive patients with colorectal liver metastases between January 1, 2012, and December 3, 2021, who were undergoing chemotherapy and who had at least one follow-up gadoxetic-enhanced MRI. For each patient, two MRIs (baseline MRI and follow-up MRI) were randomly selected.
Background/objectives: Recently, herbal medicines have gained attention for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common disease in elderly men. In this study, we aimed to determine the effect of ethanol extract of (EAR), which is traditionally used to treat various diseases, on BPH development using a testosterone-induced BPH model.
Materials/methods: Testosterone propionate (TP)-treated Sprague-Dawley rats were used to establish a BPH model .
A large amount of microplastics (MPs) in the marine environment have gradually sunk into the benthic area, and crawling organisms can be easily exposed to the MPs. This study aimed to compare the size- and shape-dependent effects of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) on Artemia franciscana, which crawls on the bottom during the juvenile stage. In this study, the juvenile stage A.

However, the impact of Hermetia illucens larvae chitosan (HCS) with specific physicochemical characteristics on obesity mediated by lipid accumulation and microbiome dysbiosis has not been fully elucidated. We purified HCS with a low molecular weight (84 kDa), low crystallinity, and a high deacetylation rate, characterizing it through several analytical techniques, including gel permeation chromatography, FT-IR, H NMR, FE-SEM, and XRD analysis.

To treat and degrade these organic pollutants, electrooxidation (EO) has emerged as a cost-effective method. Along these lines, in this work, a nanofibrous electrode was constructed to facilitate efficient EO.

Recently, dongchimi has gained attention as a health-promoting food due to its content of probiotics and prebiotics. In this study, six probiotic strains were employed into dongchimi fermentation, and its sensory and microbial characteristics were evaluated.

Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) serves as a crucial link between cellular metabolism and epigenetics by catalyzing nicotinamide methylation using the universal methyl donor S-adenosyl-L-methionine. This direct connection bridges the methylation-mediated one-carbon metabolism with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide levels.

We investigated sarcopenia's impact on NAFLD severity and its relationship with cardiometabolic risk in adolescents. We conducted a retrospective study on 122 patients aged 13-18 years and diagnosed with both NAFLD and sarcopenia by laboratory tests, abdominal ultrasound (US), and multifrequency bioelectrical impedance analysis.

Identifying molecular drivers of tumorigenesis and metastasis is essential for early detection and treatment. This study analyzed gene expression profiles from three datasets (GSE6791, GSE29330, and GSE58911) to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in HNSCC.

This study aimed to determine a cut-off for the Th17/Treg cell ratio to predict pregnancy outcomes in RPL and evaluate the effectiveness of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) based on this cut-off value.
Method Of Study: This retrospective cohort study included 49 idiopathic RPL and 75 controls.

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a high-risk condition that requires continuous monitoring and appropriate management during the natural course of the disease. In particular, the assessment of liver fibrosis is crucial for determining the optimal timing of antiviral therapy, evaluating the treatment response, and predicting the occurrence and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the management of CHB. Although a liver biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing liver inflammation, steatosis, and fibrosis, there has been a growing trend in the use of non-invasive tests, such as serum biomarkers, transient elastography, and shear wave elastography in CHB patients.

Objectives: Allergic rhinitis (AR) significantly affects quality of life and generates socioeconomic costs. The impact of smoking habits, including the use of conventional cigarettes (CC) and electronic cigarettes (EC), on AR prevalence and management remains controversial. To investigate the association between smoking status (CC and EC use) and AR prevalence and management among Koreans, data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) VII (2018) and VIII (2019-2021) were analyzed.

Methods: With the aim of evaluating the effectiveness of UCP and CHG on CRE acquisition, this study was conducted in an ICU at a university-affiliated hospital in Seoul. Beginning in April 2017, all patients admitted to the ICU underwent weekly CRE screening and surveillance tests, and beginning in January 2018, UCP and CHG bathing were implemented for all patients.
Purpose: BUDA-cEPI has been shown to achieve high-quality, high-resolution diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) with fast acquisition time, particularly when used in conjunction with S-LORAKS reconstruction. However, this comes at a cost of more complex reconstruction that is computationally prohibitive. In this work we develop rapid reconstruction pipeline for BUDA-cEPI to pave the way for its deployment in routine clinical and neuroscientific applications.
