We study two prototypical models of self-organized criticality, namely sandpile automata with deterministic (Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld) and probabilistic (Manna model) dynamical rules, focusing on the nature of stress fluctuations induced by driving-adding grains during avalanche propagation, and dissipation through avalanches that hit the system boundary. Our analysis of stress evolution time series reveals robust cyclical trends modulated by collective fluctuations with dissipative avalanches. These modulated cycles attain higher harmonics, characterized by multifractal measures within a broad range of timescales.

We model the behavior of thin systems employing the thermal nonequilibrium random field Ising model driven by a finite-driving rate protocol to study the shape of the hysteresis loop and demagnetization line and the magnetization fluctuations for varied parameters. Our results reveal a significant interplay of the disorder, the demagnetizing fields, and thermal fluctuations.

Background: The objective of this study is to determine the morphological computed tomography features of the tumor and texture analysis parameters, which may be a useful diagnostic tool for the preoperative prediction of high-risk gastrointestinal stromal tumors (HR GISTs).
Methods: This is a prospective cohort study that was carried out in the period from 2019 to 2022. The study included 79 patients who underwent CT examination, texture analysis, surgical resection of a lesion that was suspicious for GIST as well as pathohistological and immunohistochemical analysis.
The aim of our study is to define the most frequent etiology, clinical presentation, and predictive factors of outcome in children with acute ataxia (AA) and to determine "the red flags" in the diagnostic approach to children with AA. We study a system of phase oscillators attached to nodes of four-dimensional simplicial complexes and interacting via positive/negative edges-based pairwise K_{1} and triangle-based triple K_{2}≥0 couplings. Three prototypal simplicial complexes are grown by aggregation of 5-cliques, controlled by the chemical affinity parameter ν, resulting in sparse, mixed, and compact architecture, all of which have 1-hyperbolic graphs but different spectral dimensions.
