A retrospective study of immunochemical fecal occult blood testing for colorectal cancer detection.

Background: Colonoscopic examination is the common pathway for positive screening tests detecting colorectal lesions. We evaluated a specific, quantitative high-throughput automatic immunochemical fecal occult blood test (Auto iFOBT) method for colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and to determine its concordance with physician assessments informed by complete colonoscopy, the gold-standard technique for evaluation of the colonic mucosa.

Methods: 1200 CRC symptomatic patients were recruited for a retrospective investigation.

[A case of splenic inflammatory pseudotumor].

A 51-year-old woman who had undergone gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer was found to have a splenic tumor during the postoperative clinical observation. Abdominal computed tomography (CT) demonstrated solitary splenic tumor 15mm in diameter with delayed contrast enhancement. Abdominal ultrasonography (US) revealed low echoic mass with enhancement at vascular and perfusion image.

[Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) using degradable starch microspheres (DSM) (DSM-TACE) for primary and metastatic liver neuroendocrine tumors from gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors].

We reviewed the efficacy and complications of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization using degradable starch microspheres (DSM) for primary neuroendocrine tumors of the liver or liver metastases from gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors in ten patients. The rate of complete and partial response was 70.0%.

Nontraumatic rupture of lumbar artery causing an intravertebral body pseudoaneurysm: treatment by transcatheter embolization.

We report a case of nontraumatic rupture of the lumbar artery that led to a pseudoaneurysm in the vertebral body and massive retroperitoneal to retropleural hematoma. The pseudoaneurysm was successfully treated by endovascular embolization. To our knowledge, idiopathic rupture of the lumbar artery has been reported in a limited number of cases and pseudoaneurysm formation in the vertebral body has not been presented in the literature.
