A thermal diode, which, by analogy to its electrical counterpart, rectifies heat current, is the building block for thermal circuits. To realize a thermal diode, we demonstrate thermal rectification in a GaAs telescopic nanowire system using the thermal bridge method. We measured a preferred direction of heat flux, achieving rectification values ranging from 2 to 8% as a function of applied thermal bias.

However, the characterization of individual nanostructures, especially from the thermal point of view, is still an unsolved topic. This work presents the complete structural, morphological, and thermoelectrical evaluation of the selfsame individual bottom-up integrated nanowire employing an innovative micro-machined device compatible with transmission electron microscopy whose fabrication is also discussed.

By measuring the radiative thermal conductance between two coated Si plates, we find that its values are twice those obtained without the SiO_{2} coating. This twofold increase results from the hybridization of polaritons with guided modes inside Si and is well predicted by fluctuational electrodynamics and an analytical model based on a two-dimensional density of polariton states.

Introduction: Headache is a common public health problem, but its burden could be avoided by raising headache awareness and the appropriate use of acute medication and prophylactic medication. Few reports on raising headache awareness in the general public have been reported, and there are no reports on headache awareness campaigns through social networking services (SNS), or social media, in Japan. We prospectively performed a headache awareness campaign from March 2022 through 2 SNS, targeting nurse and wind instrumental musicians, because they are with high headache prevalence.

Background: Misdiagnosis of headache disorders is a serious issue and AI-based headache diagnosis models are scarce.
Methods: We developed an AI-based headache diagnosis model and conducted internal validation based on a retrospective investigation of 6058 patients (4240 training dataset for model development and 1818 test dataset for internal validation) diagnosed by a headache specialist.
Background Surgical treatment for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) sometimes becomes difficult. Erenumab, an anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP)-receptor monoclonal antibody, is used for migraine and potentially has efficacy for TN. Method We retrospectively investigated six migraine patients with comorbidity treated with 70 mg of erenumab.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new treatment option for cluster headache (CH) prevention is needed. Monoclonal antibodies (mABs) against calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) ligands are used as a preventative treatment for migraine. Considering the CGRP's role in the CH attack's ignition and upkeep, fremanezumab and galcanezumab have been evaluated for CH preventative treatment.

Here, we present the real-world data of one-time administration of CGRP-mABs, galcanezumab and fremanezumab, for migraine prevention. Methodology We retrospectively investigated eight migraine patients treated with one-time administration of galcanezumab 240 mg or fremanezumab 225 mg.

There were no reports on fremanezumab for the elderly. We described the real-world data of fremanezumab, calcitonin gene-related peptide-related monoclonal antibody (CGRP-mAB), for migraine in elderly over 70 years old.

We have previously demonstrated the distinct characteristics of Phox2b-expressing (Phox2b) neurons in the reticular formation dorsal to the trigeminal motor nucleus (RdV), which are likely related to jaw movement regulation. In this study, we focused on Phox2b neurons in the rostral parvocellular reticular formation (rPCRt), a critical region for controlling orofacial functions, using 2-11-day-old Phox2b-EYFP rats.

However, its mechanism of action is not fully understood. Here, we employed a reverse transcription quantitative PCR array to measure the expression of 84 genes in human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and their mesodermal differentiation.

Employing a commercially available and recyclable Rh/C catalyst enabled the oxidative dimerization of various anilines, including ,-disubstituted and -monosubstituted anilines, as well as diarylamines, triarylamines, and carbazoles. Additionally, the catalytic protocol was extended to the ortho-ortho coupling of anilines, affording 2,2'-diaminobiphenyls with high regioselectivity.

Therefore, they are expected to be powerful heat carriers capable of significantly enhancing the in-plane thermal conductance of polar nanostructures. In this work, we show that a SiO 2 /Si (10 μ m thick)/SiO 2 layered structure efficiently enhances the SPhP heat transport, such that its in-plane thermal conductance is ten times higher than the corresponding one of a single SiO 2 film, due to the coupling of SPhPs propagating along both of its polar SiO 2 nanolayers.

It is important to prevent intraoperative fluid retention, which is putatively caused by intraoperative release of stress hormones, such as ADH (anti-diuretic hormone) or others. We hypothesized that intraoperative analgesia may prevent pathological fluid retention.

A feasible estimation formula should be established. We measured the anatomical length of the upper-airway tract through the oral and nasal pathways on cephalometric radiographs and tried to establish the estimation formula from the height of the patient.

This paper introduces a novel actuation principle for the MEMS device in TEM relying on the internal magnetic field of the TEM and current flow through the device. The actuation principle is experimentally demonstrated in TEM and entirely modeled in the case of a silicon beam.

Thalidomide was once administered to pregnant women as a mild sedative; however, it was subsequently shown to be strongly teratogenic. Recently, there has been renewed interest in thalidomide because of its curative effects against intractable diseases. However, the teratogenicity of thalidomide is manifested in various ways and is still not fully understood.

Thalidomide, which was formerly available commercially to control the symptoms of morning sickness, is a strong teratogen that causes fetal abnormalities. However, the mechanism of thalidomide teratogenicity is not fully understood; thalidomide toxicity is not apparent in rodents, and the use of human embryos is ethically and technically untenable. In this study, we designed an experimental system featuring human-induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to investigate the effects of thalidomide.
