18 F-FDG PET/CT Findings in Monkeypox Infection in an HIV Patient.

A 29-year-old man diagnosed with monkeypox infection underwent an 18 F-FDG PET/CT for the study of organic involvement in the context of a nonsatisfactory clinical evolution. He had a history of HIV (with undetectable viral load). FDG PET/CT showed multiple hypermetabolic lymphadenopathies and bilateral pulmonary nodules with mild 18 F-FDG uptake.

Static first-minute-frame (FMF) PET imaging after F-labeled amyloid tracer injection is correlated to [F]FDG PET in patients with primary progressive aphasia.

Objective: To study the correlation between a static PET image of the first-minute-frame (FMF) acquired with F-labeled amyloid-binding radiotracers and brain [F]FDG PET in patients with primary progressive aphasia (PPA).

Material And Methods: The study cohort includes 17 patients diagnosed with PPA with the following distribution: 9 nonfluent variant PPA, 4 logopenic variant PPA, 1 semantic variant PPA, 3 unclassifiable PPA. Regional SUVRs are extracted from FMFs and their corresponding [F]FDG PET images and Pearson's correlation coefficients are calculated.

Effects of cranioplasty in cerebral blood perfusion using quantification with 99m-Tc HMPAO SPECT-CT.

Background And Purpose: Syndrome of the trephined or sinking skin flap syndrome is an underdiagnosed condition of craniectomized patients that usually improves after cranioplasty. Among the pathophysiological theories proposed, the changes of cerebral blood perfusion (CBP) caused by cranial defects might have a role in the neurological deficiencies observed. We aim to assess the regional cortex changes in CBP after cranioplasty with Technetium 99m hexamethylpropylene-amine oxime (99mTc-HMPAO) SPECT-CT.

Accuracy and Limitations of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy after Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer Patients with Positive Nodes.

Background: Axillary surgical management in patients with node-positive breast cancer at the time of diagnosis converted to negative nodes through neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) remains unclear. Removal of more than two sentinel nodes (SLNs) in these patients may decrease the false negative rate (FNR) of sentinel lymph node biopsies (SLNBs). We aim to analyse the detection rate (DR) and the FNR of SLNB assessment according to the number of SLNs removed.

F-FDG PET/CT in a cardiac metastasis in a patient with history of malignant neuroectodermal tumour of the chest wall: Case report and review of the literature.

The case presented is a 25-year-old male with a malignant neuroectodermal tumour on the left chest wall (Askin tumour), treated with surgery after neoadyuvant chemotherapy and followed by consolidation chemotherapy. After 9 years of disease free survival, the patient developed an acute pulmonary embolism. The echocardiogram, thoracic CT, and cardiac MRI scans revealed a mass in the right atrium.

This report describes the experimental results obtained with conventional (pulmonary artery, PA) flushing versus retrograde perfusion (via left atrium, LA) using 99mTc-labeled macroaggregated albumin (MAA-99mTc) to ascertain the distribution throughout the tracheobronchial (TB) tree in 10 Large-White pigs. Lung preservation was achieved with 4 degrees C Euro-Collins solution (60 ml/kg) instilled via PA (n = 5) or LA (n = 5). The pharmacokinetic profiles of a sustained-release monofluorophosphate (MFP-SR) preparation (76 mg) and of plain MFP (76 mg) were compared in six osteoporotic females. These studies were performed in a randomized, crossover, double-blind design to select a preparation that would result in therapeutic serum levels while avoiding high serum peak values. Following a single dose of 76 mg MFP-SR, the serum fluoride levels remained within the accepted therapeutic range (5-10 microM/liter) for 24 hours.

Serum bone Gla protein, a sensitive and specific marker of bone turnover, was measured in 35 acromegalic patients (14 untreated, 8 clinically active, and 13 cured) and 21 controls. We also examined 10 acromegalic patients before and after transsphenoidal surgery. Untreated and clinically active acromegalic patients had significantly higher serum bone Gla protein concentrations than the control subjects.
