The ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) is implicated in protein homeostasis. One of the proteins involved in this system is HERC1 E3 ubiquitin ligase, which was associated with several processes including the normal development and neurotransmission at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), autophagy in projection neurons, myelination of the peripheral nervous system, among others. The tambaleante (tbl) mouse model carries the spontaneous mutation Gly483Glu substitution in the HERC1 E3 protein.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The Racing and Crowded Thoughts Questionnaire (RCTQ-13) is the most widely used specific scale for the measurement of racing thoughts, but there is currently no Spanish version that allow the evaluation in Spanish-speaking patients. The objective of this study is to translate, adapt, and validate the RCTQ-13 in a Colombian population with affective disorders.
Methods: The questionnaire was translated and back-translated, and corrections were implemented following a pilot test to improve comprehensibility.
In spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), mutations in or loss of the () gene reduce full-length SMN protein levels, which leads to the degeneration of a percentage of motor neurons. In mouse models of SMA, the development and maintenance of spinal motor neurons and the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) function are altered. While peripheral nerve damage leads to successful NMJ reinnervation in animal models, muscle fiber reinnervation in human patients is largely inefficient. Interestingly, some hallmarks of NMJ denervation and early reinnervation in murine species, such as fragmentation and poly-innervation, are also phenotypes of aged NMJs or even of unaltered conditions in other species, including humans.

The relationship between their molecular structures and their g-tensors has been investigated with the aid of DFT calculations, revealing that the degree of spin density delocalization away from the central methylene carbon is an important determining factor of the g-anisotropy. In particular, the small amount of spin densities on the Cl or S heteroatoms at the 2 and 6 positions with respect to the central carbon have the strongest influence.
