In dental diagnosis, evaluating the severity of periodontal disease by analyzing the radiographic defect angle of the intrabony defect is essential for effective treatment planning. However, dentists often rely on clinical examinations and manual analysis, which can be time-consuming and labor-intensive. Due to the high recurrence rate of periodontal disease after treatment, accurately evaluating the radiographic defect angle of the intrabony defect is vital for implementing targeted interventions, which can improve treatment outcomes and reduce recurrence.

While the involvement of ATP:cob(I)alamin adenosyltransferases (MMAB) in the synthesis, delivery, and repair of 5'-deoxyadenosylcobalamin (AdoCbl) is well established, the kinetic mechanisms that regulate this process, particularly its negative cooperativity, remain poorly understood. Understanding these mechanisms is key to clarifying how MMAB efficiently uses AdoCbl, prevents resource wastage, and supports bacterial survival in nutrient-limited environments.

However, the restricted availability of protons poses a challenge to achieving kinetically favorable oxygen catalytic reactions. Here, we alter the interfacial water orientation by adjusting the Brønsted acidity at the catalyst surface, to break the proton transfer limitation of neutral oxygen electrocatalysis.

Despite advancements in treatment, many patients continue to experience less-than-ideal outcomes. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) have been studied as a potential supplementary therapy for heart failure, but the optimal dosage and duration of supplementation remain unclear.

At present, the main treatment methods are drug, surgical, and electrical stimulation therapies. Electrical stimulation has recently emerged as an alternative treatment for reducing symptomatic seizures.

However, the electrochemical stability of LATP suffers upon contact with lithium metals, resulting in a reduction of Ti to Ti in its structure. This limitation necessitates interface modification processes, hindering its use in lithium-ion batteries.

Three-dimensional measurements based on fringe projection techniques perform well on diffuse reflective surfaces; however, when the measurement targets contain both specular and diffuse components, the efficiency of fringe projection decreases. To address this issue, the proposed technique integrates digital holography into the fringe projection setup, enabling the simultaneous capture of both specular and diffuse reflected light in the same optical path for full-field surface profilometry.

Rheumatoid arthritis can affect both the middle ear (specifically, the incudomalleolar and incudostapedial joints) and inner ear (including the cochlea and acoustic nerve) simultaneously. Despite ongoing research, consensus on effective treatments for hearing impairment in these patients remains elusive.

Community-dwelling adults aged ≥ 20 with established IHD from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2018 were eligible. Mortality was tracked through linkage to the National Death Index (NDI) until the end of 2019.

We aimed to evaluate peritherapeutic intracranial artery flow dynamics following PTAS with quantitative magnetic resonance angiography (qMRA) to predict long-term stent patency.
Design: This is a prospective, single-center study.
We report the application of organoiridium complexes as catalytic agents for the detoxification of biogenic reactive aldehyde species (RASP), which are implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders. We show that Ir complexes functionalized with phosphonium cations localize selectively in the mitochondria and have better cellular retention compared to that of their parent Ir species. In a cell model for Parkinsonism, the mitochondria-targeted iridium catalysts exhibited superior cell protecting abilities and longer-lasting effects (up to 6 d) than conventional RASP scavengers, which failed to be effective beyond 24 h.

Objective: Despite certain studies indicating hearing impairments in individuals with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the correlation between PCOS and sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) remains inconclusive. This study aimed to investigate the association between PCOS and SNHL.
Data Sources: A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library from inception to June 24, 2024.
Copper is an essential element involved in various biochemical processes, such as mitochondrial energy production and antioxidant defense, but improper regulation can lead to cellular toxicity and disease. Copper Transporter 1 (CTR1) plays a key role in copper uptake and maintaining cellular copper homeostasis. Although CTR1 endocytosis was previously thought to reduce copper uptake when levels are high, it was unclear how rapid regulation is achieved.

The enzyme is considered a potential target for treating thrombosis. We previously developed a potent PDI inhibitor, CPD, which contains the propiolamide as a warhead targeting cysteine residue in PDI.

We previously identified an association between plasma tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1) and an aldosterone-induced increase in LVMI and diastolic dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate the association between the presence of KCNJ5 somatic mutation and plasma TIMP-1 in APA patients.

Establish, through the determination of the glottic angle and area, a decision regarding safe and necessary interventions in bilateral vocal fold paralysis to maintain airway. From January 2008 to December 2023, we looked back at laryngoscopic photographs of subjects with bilateral vocal fold paralysis. The average vocal fold length for each gender was used to calculate the glottic areas and measure the corresponding glottic angles in a total of 26 cases.

Circulating EVs carry functional small RNAs and other molecular footprints from their cell of origin, and thus have evident applications in liquid biopsy, therapeutics, and intercellular communication. Yet, the complete transcriptomic landscape of EVs is poorly characterized due to critical limitations including variable protocols used for EV-RNA extraction, quality control, cDNA library preparation, sequencing technologies, and bioinformatic analyses.
