We retrospectively identified patients with degenerated mitral bioprosthesis or failed annuloplasty rings who underwent redo SRMVR or TAMVI at our medical center. Clinical outcomes were based on echocardiography results.

Background: Loss of knee extension causes significant impairment. Though nerve-based reconstruction is preferable in cases of femoral nerve palsy or injury, these surgeries are not always appropriate if the pathology involves the quadriceps muscles or presentation too late for muscle reinnervation. Muscle transfers are another option that has been underutilized in the lower extremity.

Methods: PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), EMBASE, Scopus and ScienceDirect databases were searched to identify eligible studies published between January 1950 and March 2019 in any language. The quality of included observational studies was assessed using an 11-item checklist which was recommended by Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

This systematic review is conducted to explore the relationship between fragility fractures and pain experience. We searched for relevant studies on Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane library without restrictions on language from inception until February 4th, 2021. The risk of bias and methodological quality was evaluated using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale and ROBINS-I tool.

Herein, we report the synthesis and evaluation of a series of β-turn mimetic-based peptides as potent quorum sensing inhibitors and antibiofilm formation. In this series, peptides P1, P4, and P5 showed very promising anti-quorum sensing activity on lasB-gfp reporter strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa without affecting bacterial growth.

Herein, a green and simple modification approach to prepare highly dispersible functionalized graphene via thermal thiol-ene click reaction was successfully demonstrated on pristine graphene. Specific chemical functionalities (-COO, -NH and -S) on the thiol precursor (L-cysteine ethyl ester) were clicked directly on the sp carbon of graphene framework with grafting density of 1 unit L-cysteine per 113 carbon atoms on graphene.

Exchange transfusion (ET) in pertussis has been demonstrated as a safe and useful technique for depleting the leucocyte mass. We aim to discuss four cases of pertussis-induced respiratory distress and the effectiveness of ET in such a setting.

However, molecular factors underlying pathogenesis of this disease remain largely unknown. Our objective was to characterize metabolic alterations in shrimp stomach during AHPND and determine effects of taurocholate on AHPND-causing .

MP1 exhibited not only potent antibacterial activity but also antifungal and anticancer properties. More importantly, MP1 shows relatively low hemolytic activity compared to other antimicrobial peptides having a similar origin.

We aimed to assess the safety of the vaccine among healthcare workers.: A self-administered online survey on monitoring adverse reactions post vaccination was conducted among the staff who worked at and were vaccinated in a tertiary hospital in Taizhou, China, from February 24 to 7 March 2021.

The method is capable of measuring both the resistance and capacitance of a cell-covered microelectrode at various AC frequencies. In this study, we demonstrate the application of high-frequency capacitance measurement (f = 40 or 64 kHz) for the sensitive detection of both the micromotion and wound-healing migration of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs).

However, the development of cell-laden bioink with potent antibacterial activity while supporting tissue regeneration proved to be challenging. Here, we introduced a cell-laden antibacterial bioink based on Methylcellulose/Alginate (MC/Alg) hydrogel for skin tissue engineering via elimination of the risks associated with a bacterial infection.

Hepassocin (HPS/FGL1) is involved in regulating lipid metabolism and the progression of several cancer types; however, the underlying mechanism of HPS/FGL1 in the mutant PDAC cells undergoing eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) treatment remains unclear.
Methods: We measured HPS/FGL1 protein expressions in a human pancreatic ductal epithelial (HPNE) normal pancreas cell line, a -wild-type PDAC cell line (BxPC-3), and -mutant PDAC cell lines (PANC-1, MIA PaCa-2, and SUIT-2) by Western blot methods.
Objectives: We aimed to determine predictors of mortality within 90 days and develop a simple score for patients with mechanical thrombectomy (MT).
Design: Analysis of a multicentre prospective registry.
Setting: In six participating centres, patients who had an acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) treated by MT between March 2017 and May 2018 were documented prospectively.
Printed electronic sensors offer a breakthrough in the availability of low-cost sensor devices for improving the quality of human life. Conductive ink is the core of printing technology and also one of the fastest growing sector among all ink industries. Among many developed conductive inks, graphene-based inks are especially recognized as very promising for future fabrication of devices due to their low cost, unique properties, and compatibility with various platforms such as plastics, textiles, and paper.
