This study employed a computational approach, particularly Density Functional Theory at B3LYP-D3/6-31+G(d) level to design two new classes of three-dimensional (3D) Lantern Organic Frameworks (LOFs) materials based on trisilasumanene and porphyrin core building units. Particularly, we detail strategies for transitioning from 1D-LOF nanowires to extended 3D structures: first by connecting planar-molecule base units of trisilasumanene or porphyrin using benzene-based linkers, and then connecting silicon anchoring atoms on the bases with other bases that are vertically stacked by sp-hydrocarbon chains. The 3D-LOF structures are designed to have different pore sizes through the use of various bases, bridges, and linkers.

This study investigates the formation of partial sigma (σ) covalent bonds in experimentally synthesizable biradicals formed from hydrogenated and fluorinated C, C, and C cage structures, by assessing their stability, geometry, and bonding character in singlet and triplet states using restricted B3LYP-D3/6-31+G(d,p) theory, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, and complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) method. This paper introduces a new control strategy for robot manipulators, specifically designed to tackle the challenges associated with traditional model-based sliding mode (SM) controller design. These challenges include the need for accurately computed system models, knowledge of disturbance upper bounds, fixed-time convergence, prescribed performance, and the generation of chattering. This study presents the development of machine-learning-based quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) models for predicting electron affinity, ionization potential, and band gap of fusenes from different chemical classes. Three variants of the atom-based Weisfeiler-Lehman (WL) graph kernel method and the machine learning model Gaussian process regressor (GPR) were used. Implementation of proton-exchange membrane water electrolyzers for large-scale sustainable hydrogen production requires the replacement of scarce noble-metal anode electrocatalysts with low-cost alternatives. However, such earth-abundant materials often exhibit inadequate stability and/or catalytic activity at low pH, especially at high rates of the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Here, the authors explore the influence of a dielectric nanoscale-thin oxide layer, namely AlO, SiO, TiO, SnO, and HfO, prepared by atomic layer deposition, on the stability and catalytic activity of low-cost and active but insufficiently stable CoO anodes.

Coupling the hydrogen evolution reaction with plastic waste photoreforming provides a synergistic path for simultaneous production of green hydrogen and recycling of post-consumer products, two major enablers for establishment of a circular economy. Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C N ) is a promising photocatalyst due to its suitable optoelectronic and physicochemical properties, and inexpensive fabrication. Herein, a mechanistic investigation of the structure-activity relationship of g-C N for poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) photoreforming is reported by carefully controlling its fabrication from a subset of earth-abundant precursors, such as dicyandiamide, melamine, urea, and thiourea.
