Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes in Patients with COVID-19 and Cancer: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Much of routine cancer care has been disrupted due to the perceived susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection in cancer patients. Here, we systematically review the current evidence base pertaining to the prevalence, presentation and outcome of COVID-19 in cancer patients, in order to inform policy and practice going forwards. A keyword-structured systematic search was conducted on Pubmed, Cochrane, Embase and MedRxiv databases for studies reporting primary data on COVID-19 in cancer patients.

Pharmacists' Perceptions of the Benefits and Challenges of Electronic Product Information System Implementation in Hong Kong: Mixed-Method Study.

Background: With the advancement of technology, more countries are now adopting the use of electronic product information (ePI), which refer to an electronic version of physical product inserts in a semistructured format optimized for electronic manipulation. The successful implementation of ePI has led to advantages and convenience to patients, health care professionals, and pharmaceutical companies in many regions and countries. In the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), there is currently no citywide implementation of ePI.

In vitro and in vivo assessment of chitosan modified urocanic acid as gene carrier.

Chitosan nanoparticles modified with 10 and 30% urocanic acid (CUA) via carbodiimide crosslinking were examined for an efficient gene delivery carrier. The CUA gene carrier was characterized by FTIR, TEM, SEM and the in vitro transfection efficiency CUA polyplex was tested with HeLa and 3T3 cells. The loading efficiency of CUA complexes with DNA was assessed at different N/P ratio of 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

Microengineered Conductive Elastomeric Electrodes for Long-Term Electrophysiological Measurements with Consistent Impedance under Stretch.

In this research, we develop a micro-engineered conductive elastomeric electrode for measurements of human bio-potentials with the absence of conductive pastes. Mixing the biocompatible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) silicone with other biocompatible conductive nano-particles further provides the material with an electrical conductivity. We apply micro-replica mold casting for the micro-structures, which are arrays of micro-pillars embedded between two bulk conductive-PDMS layers.

A growing body of research has shown that Western vegetarians report more concern for animal welfare and environmental sustainability, and endorse more liberal values than do Western omnivores. However, despite the prevalence of Indian vegetarianism, its psychological associations and underpinnings remain largely unexamined. In Study 1, we find that Euro-American vegetarians are more concerned than omnivores with the impact of their daily food choices on the environment and animal welfare, show more concern for general animal welfare, and endorse universalistic values more, yet among Indian participants, these differences are not significant.

PET/CT characteristics of isolated bone metastases in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Purpose: To compare the prognostic implications and positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) characteristics of isolated bone metastasis secondary to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with those of HCC metastases to bone and other sites.

Materials And Methods: This study was approved by the institutional ethics committee, and informed consent was obtained from all patients. Extrahepatic metastases were diagnosed in 257 patients with HCC by using dual-tracer (carbon 11 [(11)C] acetate and fluorine 18 fluorodeoxyglucose [FDG]) PET/CT.

F-18 FDG PET/CT in an adult case of group B streptococcal sacroiliitis.

An adult patient presented with acute severe pelvic and low-back pain. Evaluations with CT and MRI were negative/inconclusive. F-18 FDG PET/CT localized the site of pathology in right sacroiliac-joint by demonstrating hypermetabolic activities conformal with the joint's outline, signifying infectious/inflammatory sacroiliitis.

200-GHz and 50-GHz AWG channelized linewidth dependent transmission of weak-resonant-cavity FPLD injection-locked by spectrally sliced ASE.

In a weak-resonant-cavity Fabry-Perot laser diode (WRC-FPLD) based DWDM-PON system with an array-waveguide-grating (AWG) channelized amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) source located at remote node, we study the effect of AWG filter bandwidth on the transmission performances of the 1.25-Gbit/s directly modulated WRC-FPLD transmitter under the AWG channelized ASE injection-locking. With AWG filters of two different channel spacings at 50 and 200 GHz, several characteristic parameters such as interfered reflection, relatively intensity noise, crosstalk reduction, side-mode-suppressing ratio and power penalty of BER effect of the WRC-FPLD transmitted data are compared.

Alloplastic materials offer a number of advantages over bone autografts in the reconstruction of craniofacial defects. These include: lack of donor site morbidity, unlimited quantities of available material, and the possibility to conform exactly to the defect. An ideal bioresorbable material would degrade slowly, and have osteoconductive properties to allow replacement and remodeling by osseous tissue.

Coronary normograms and the coronary-aorta index: objective determinants of coronary artery dilatation.

This is a prospective study to establish the normal ranges of the proximal left (LCA) and right (RCA) coronary artery diameters in normal children. Echocardiographic measurements of the internal diameters of the LCA, RCA, and the aortic annulus (AoA) were performed on 390 Asians with normal hearts, between the ages of 2 months to 8 years. The maximal diameters of the LCA and RCA in diastole were measured at predetermined sites.

Pyogenic liver abscess--a tropical centre's experience in management with review of current literature.

Aim Of Study: To perform a retrospective study, with the help of literature review, of the management of patients with pyogenic liver abscess in a general hospital.

Method: A retrospective study of 73 consecutive patients treated atTanTock Seng Hospital between January 1994 and December 1997 was conducted to determine the demographic, clinical, laboratory, radiological and microbiological characteristics of these patients, as well as the management strategies employed.

Results: Liver abscess was more common in males, occurring more frequently in the right hepatic lobe.

Effect of rearing regimens on pullet growth and subsequent laying performance.

Treatments consisted of eight pullet dietary regimens: high protein with low, medium, or high ME; low protein with high ME, step-up protein, and diets with gradually decreasing protein levels and increasing ME levels with deficient methionine and TSAA levels, recommended methionine levels (TSAA-deficient), or recommended methionine and TSAA levels. Two additional regimens were introduced at 20 wk by selecting light and heavy birds, from caged birds maintained under high protein, medium ME conditions. Laying performance was measured from 20 to 64 wk.
