Objective: To analyze the scientific production on Advanced Practice Nursing based on dissertations and theses published in Brazil.
Method: A bibliometric study, with a descriptive approach based on documents, carried out in the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel Theses and Dissertations Bank, Scientific Electronic Library Online, Virtual Health Library, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences and institutional repositories, from October to November 2023.
Results: Of the 25 scientific productions identified, 16 are dissertations and nine are theses.
Introduction: A positive surgical margin (R1 resection) is a relevant risk factor for local recurrence in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas (PDAC). An intraoperative liquid biopsy (ILB) based on tumor cell mobilization could help to detect R1 resection intraoperatively.
Objective: To evaluate the potential role of the intraoperative circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cluster mobilization on the R0/R1 detection.
Herpes zoster (HZ) is a common disease in older adults and immunocompromised patients, and is frequently associated with long-term complications that impact quality of life. Fortunately, more than one vaccine against HZ is now available in Mexico. Two expert consensus groups discussed adult vaccination strategies in Mexico, focusing on HZ in older adults and immunocompromised individuals; their insights are reported here.

Therefore, improved and targeted delivery of statins to the brain is necessary. This study aimed to develop a high-strength liquid formulation of the poorly soluble prodrug simvastatin for intranasal administration, as a strategy to achieve high brain concentrations of the prodrug and/or its active form, tenivastatin.

PR alters the transcriptional landscape to support tumor growth in concert with, or independent of, ER. Understanding the mechanisms regulating PR function is critical to developing new strategies to treat HR+ breast cancer.

Antineoplastic chemotherapy patients are susceptible to vascular trauma. The identification of this problem is possible through accurate clinical indicators. However, there are few diagnostic accuracy studies of vascular trauma in these patients.

Visceral leishmaniasis is the most serious manifestation of the disease, leading to a 95% mortality rate after two years of infection if untreated. Visceral leishmaniasis is frequently associated with immunocompromised states, with the human immunodeficiency virus being the most prevalent.

Methods: diagnostic accuracy study, performed in the intensive care unit of a university hospital in northeastern Brazil. The sample consisted of 104 patients hospitalized between June and October 2019.
Background: Antimicrobial resistance is a global concern. Analysis of sterile fluids is essential because microorganisms are defined as significant in most cases. Blood, cerebrospinal, and pleural fluids are frequently received in the microbiology lab because they are associated with considerable rates of morbi-mortality.

It is considered a low-grade tumor, often associated with a good prognosis. We report a case of a 60-year-old man with 3-month history of a growing, painless mass in the right ascending ramus of the mandible.

Epidural catheter dislodgment is a common cause of epidural block failure. The diagnosis of this situation is usually presumptive, and cases in which the actual trajectory and final location of the catheter are witnessed by imaging are rare.

The brachial plexus block can be performed through several approaches. The recently described ultrasound-guided costoclavicular block at the costoclavicular space has gained popularity, presenting promising results for upper limb anaesthesia and postoperative analgesia. This block comes as an alternative to the traditional infraclavicular approach, with results suggesting improved block quality and reduced risk of complications.

Moreover, the safety profile remained clinically acceptable, suggesting that the clinical benefit of the RZV in ≥50-year-olds is sustained up to 10 years.

Method: This is an exploratory and descriptive research, carried out by a cross-mapping study. Data were collected from 107 medical records of a Hospital Institute in the city of Rio de Janeiro/Brazil, in a period between October 2017 to February 2019.
Schottky barrier diodes, developed by low-cost techniques and low temperature processes (LTP-SBD), have gained attention for different kinds of novel applications, including flexible electronic fabrication. This work analyzes the behavior of the - characteristic of solution processed, ZnO Schottky barrier diodes, fabricated at a low temperature. It is shown that the use of standard extraction methods to determine diode parameters in these devices produce significant dispersion of the ideality factor with values from 2.

The standard gold test for detecting the virus is the RT-PCR, performed from nasopharyngeal swab (NPS) samples. However, this test may be uncomfortable for the patient and requires specific training and attire from the health professional responsible for collecting the sample.

Infectious proctitis by sexually transmitted diseases are increasing in incidence and should be considered in homosexual patients with rectal symptoms. In this case, we show a patient with proctitis and perianal disease caused by Chlamydia trachomatis that could be diagnosed as another anorectal disease such as inflammatory bowel disease if the clinical history is not taken into account. A high level of suspicion is crucial, in order to avoid an incorrect diagnosis, delayed antibiotic therapy and the development of complications.

The advent of SARS-CoV-2 disease in 2020 confronts us with a growing and exponential increase in patients at life risk due to catastrophic and multisystemic respiratory failure in need of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) to survive. This has generated in our country the establishment of ECMO treatment Units in hospitals where it was not carried out before or was carried out as part the interventions in Intensive Care Units (ICU), becoming a new challenge to the infection control and prevention programs. Given that at the time of writing this document there are no specific national regulations that refer to this issue, an approach is proposed for the prevention control and surveillance of nosocomial acquired infections in ECMO patients.
