Shift work requires round-the-clock readiness to perform professional duties, and the workers' performance highly depends on their sleepiness level, which can be underestimated during a shift. Various factors, including the time of day, can influence sleepiness in shift workers. The objective of this study was to explore the dynamics of sleepiness-related conditions assessed through heart rate variability analysis, starting from the biological evening and continuing in vivo (at home), without the need for artificial alertness support.

Background: Issues regarding close relations became especially prevalent within the context of the pandemic, due to the forced separation of these relationships. This is now seen as a significant stressor that influences emotions and subjective perceptions of the relationship.

Objective: The current study aims to investigate the specifics of coping with the forced separation of partners with varying types of closeness.

(1) Background: The present study is aimed to determine the predicting role of objective (lifestyle) and subjective factors of middle-aged women's psycho-emotional health such as their relations with parents, attachment and separation types. Women who are overloaded with professional and family roles have high stress level, their indicators of psychological well-being and emotional level decrease when they have to give everyday care to their elderly parents. (2) Methods: The research sample has two empirical groups.

The objective of the present study was to characterize the specific features of corpse putrification under the influence of necrobiome enzymatic systems depending on the duration of the post-mortem period. We present the results of investigations into the enzymatic activity of the dominant species of microorganisms making up the post-mortem microbiome. The domestic pork carcasses weighing 50-70 kg were used as an experimental putrification model.

The dynamics of microbial biofilm formation by standard strain and by clinical strains of uropathogenic coliform bacteria was investigated in vitro and the effect of sublethal concentrations of the polymer compound polyazolidinammonium modified with iodine hydrate ions on the initial stages of biofilm formation was assessed. Treatment of immunological plate wells with the polymeric compound prevented film formation, especially in case of clinical E. coli strain carrying FimH virulence gene.

Aim: Study of antimicrobial activity of a polymer compound--polyazolidinammonium, modified with hydrate-ions of iodine.

Materials And Methods: Antimicrobial activity of polyazolidinammonium, modified with hydrate-ions of iodine, against reference strains and clinical isolates of Gram positive and negative bacteria, microscopical fungi, as well as RNA viruses was studied.

Results: High antibacterial activity of the studied compound was established, especially against Gram positive bacteria.

Aim: To study effect of lectin L II of Paenibacillus polymyxa 1460 on cytokine status of mice during modeling of infections caused by Staphylococcus, Escherichia and Yersinia.

Materials And Methods: Lectin LII of P. polymyxa 1460, bacterial cultures Staphylococcus aureus 209-P, Escherichia coli O1, and Yersinia enterocolitica 12 were used.

Influence of lectin LII of Paenibacillus polymyxa 1460, specific for galactosamine, glucuronic acid, fructose-1,6-diphosphate, and glucosamine, on mechanisms of oxygen-dependent and oxygen-independent killing of bacteria was reviewed. It was shown that the lectin modulates the activity of some microbicide factors in the cytoplasm of macrophages before phagocytosis. Increased activity of myeloperoxidase and acid phosphatase, enhanced formation of active forms of oxygen in alveolar macrophages, increased level of cationic proteins and decreased activity of alkaline phosphatase in peritoneal macrophages was observed.

The effect of low-intensity laser radiation generated by semiconductor devices in the red (650 nm) and infrared (850 nm) regions of the spectrum in vitro and in vivo on the phagocytic activity and synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines by peritoneal macrophages during the phagocytosis of bacterial cells has been studied. A culture of the clinical strain of the enteropathogenic bacterium Escherichia coli was used as an object. The radiation dose was varied by changing the power and duration of exposure.

Ischemic heart disease patients (20 men, 20 women, age 36-72 years) with class II-III effort angina and depression (Beck Depression Inventory -- BDI -- score > or = 19) were randomized to standard therapy were treatment of stable ischemic heart disease (control group) or standard therapy plus tianeptine 37.5 mg/day. After 6 weeks 52% decrease of BDI score occurred in tianeptine treated patients (from 24.

The complex study of the influence of A. brasilense Sp 7 lectin with carbohydrate specificity to L-fucose and D-galactose on the dynamics of cell populations in different structural functional zones of the white mice mesentery, as well as on the capacity of immunocompetent cells of mesenterial lymph nodes for synthesizing cytokines (interleukin-1, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor), was carried out. A single oral administration of bacterial lectin in a dose of 4.

The genetic patterns of 25 populations from seven ethnic groups living in the Ural region (Komi, Komi-Permyaks, Udmurts, Mansi, Nentsy, Tatars, and Chuvashes) were studied. Immunological, biochemical, and physiological markers of the loci ABO, FUT, RH, P, FY, DI, KEL, LU, LE, JK, HP, GC, C'3, TF, PI, ACP1, GLO1, ESD, PGD, PGM1, PTC, and CB were studied. The average ethnic frequencies of the alleles and haplotypes studied were estimated.

An investigation was performed on the distribution of the gene and haplotype frequencies of A1A2B0, Rh, MNSs, Lewis, P1, Duffy, Kell-Cellano, Kell-Kp, Sutter, Kidd, Lutheran, Hp, Gc, Tf, C'3, Pi, GLO1, EsD, AcP, 6-PGD, PGM1 (subtypes), PTC, and CB loci, and on ABH-antigen secretion in the native Russian population of four rural districts of Tver' oblast'. The following peculiarities of genetic structure of the studied groups were revealed: a higher incidence of A1, A2, MS, NS, Ns, CDE, cDe, cdE, le, se, and K genes and haplotypes, in comparison to the average for Russians; and a lower incidence of cDE, CDe, cde, Jka, AcPa, AcPc, t, and CB+ genes and haplotypes. The incidence of other studied genes and haplotypes coincides with the average ethnic frequencies for Russians.

Two epidemiologically unrelated outbreaks of trichinellosis were registered in Rostov Province in the November and December of 1984 with 16 patients in the Salsk District and 20 patients in Rostov-on-Don. The course of the disease was characterized by 6-20% of severe and 31-45% moderate forms, respectively. The source of the infection was pork that had not been controlled for Trichinella spiralis.
