Pyoderma gangrenosum: a review.

Pyoderma gangrenosum is a poorly understood disease characterized by exacerbations and remissions of morphologically unique skin ulcers. It frequently is thought to be the cutaneous manifestation of an underlying systemic disease. In this review of pyoderma gangrenosum, the characteristics of the disease are described and a differential diagnosis is formulated.

History of the pancreas.

The pancreas was generally ignored in antiquity, both as an organ and as a seat of disease. The first description of the pancreas is attributed to Herophilus. It was in the 17th century that the main duct of the organ was described and its significance demonstrated.

Colonic fistulization in pancreatitis: case report and literature review.

A case is reported in which pancreatic abscess with erosion into the colon and the splenic artery was treated successfully. The 35 previously reported cases of colonic fistulization in pancreatitis are reviewed, and the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of this complication are discussed.
