Somatic nerve entrapment caused by endometriosis is an underrecognized and often misdiagnosed issue that leads to many women suffering unnecessarily. While the classic symptoms of endometriosis are well-known to the gynaecologic surgeon, the dermatomal-type pain caused by endometriosis impacting neural structures is not within gynecologic day-to-day practice, which often complicates diagnosis and delays treatment. A thorough understanding of pelvic neuroanatomy and a neuropelveologic approach is required for accurate assessments of patients with endometriosis and nerve entrapment.

Purpose Of Review: The purpose of this review is to provide a clinically relevant synthesis of the current literature on cesarean scar defects, focusing on their epidemiology and clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Recent Findings: Cesarean scar defects (CSDs) are an emerging area of gynecologic research, with an influx of higher quality cohorts, randomized controlled trials, and systematic reviews published within the last decade. Recent developments of importance include the European Niche Taskforce consensus on the measurement and diagnosis of CSDs, the proposal of clinical criteria for Cesarean scar disorder (CSDi), as well as the publication of several systematic reviews, which provide enhanced support for clinical decision-making in treatment strategies.

An unusually broad bell-shaped component (BSC) has been previously observed in surface electron diffraction on different types of 2D systems. It was suggested to be an indicator of uniformity of epitaxial graphene (Gr) and hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). Arousal evoked by detecting a performance error may provide a mechanism by which error detection leads to either adaptive or maladaptive changes in attention and performance. By pairing EEG data acquisition with simultaneous measurements of pupil diameter, which is thought to reflect norepinephrinergic arousal, this study tested whether transient changes in EEG oscillations in the alpha frequency range (8-12 Hz) following performance mistakes may reflect error-evoked arousal. In the inter-trial interval following performance mistakes (approximately 8% of trials), pupil diameter increased and EEG alpha power decreased, compared to the inter-trial interval following correct responses.

The systematic stabilization of protein-protein interactions (PPI) has great potential as innovative drug discovery strategy to target novel and hard-to-drug protein classes. The current lack of chemical starting points and focused screening opportunities limits the identification of small molecule stabilizers that engage two proteins simultaneously. Starting from our previously described virtual screening strategy to identify inhibitors of 14-3-3 proteins, we report a conceptual molecular docking approach providing concrete entries for discovery and rational optimization of stabilizers for the interaction of 14-3-3 with the carbohydrate-response element-binding protein (ChREBP).

Experimental data from low-temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (LTSTM) studies on coinage metal surfaces with very low coverages of S is providing new insights into metal-S interactions. A previous LTSTM study for Cu(100), and a new analysis reported here for Ag(100), both indicate no metal-sulfur complex formation, but an Au4S5 complex was observed previously on Au(100). In marked contrast, various complexes have been proposed and/or observed on Ag(111) and Cu(111), but not on Au(111).
