Five years on: analysis of university lecturers' experiences of the French government's health promotion education program.

Background: The National Health Promotion Intervention Program by Student (HPIPS) is a French government educational program introduced in 2018, aiming at developing all health students' health promotion knowledge and abilities, as well as implementing health promotion interventions for specific subpopulations in the general public. Its pedagogical framework was elaborated in 2018 and then evaluated by the French Council for Public Health in 2022, highlighting certain difficulties for the program to be homogeneously implemented in France. The aim of this study was to explore and describe the experiences and feedback of university lecturers in charge of this HPIPS training.

The representations and beliefs of both patient and practitioner influence the relationship that develops between them. We developed an innovative, interactive teaching tool in two stages (1- interviews with the patient or healthcare practitioner and 2- a session with sharing of the patient's and practitioner's perspective) whose objectives are to recognize the basic characteristics of PPR and identify how it can be influenced by expectations, beliefs and emotions. This pedagogical device was particularly appreciated by the students, as it enabled them to identify the importance of the patient's point of view and to reflect on their future professional identity.

T cell help induces transcriptional bursts in germinal center B cells during positive selection.

Antibody affinity maturation occurs in secondary lymphoid organs within germinal centers (GCs). At these sites, B cells mutate their antibody-encoding genes in the dark zone, followed by preferential selection of the high-affinity variants in the light zone by T cells. The strength of the T cell-derived selection signals is proportional to the B cell receptor affinity and to the magnitude of subsequent expression.

Assessing the diagnostic utility of the Gaucher Earlier Diagnosis Consensus (GED-C) scoring system using real-world data.

Background: Gaucher disease (GD) is a rare autosomal recessive condition associated with clinical features such as splenomegaly, hepatomegaly, anemia, thrombocytopenia, and bone abnormalities. Three clinical forms of GD have been defined based on the absence (type 1, GD1) or presence (types 2 and 3) of neurological signs. Early diagnosis can reduce the likelihood of severe, often irreversible complications.

[Child oral health: A plea for interdisciplinarity].

A child’s oral health has major implications both for their general health and for their quality of life. Even before birth, the mother’s oral health can affect the development of the baby and pregnancy outcomes. From the very first months of life, feeding habits together with non-nutritive sucking ones, early transmission of pathogenic bacteria, and oral hygiene practices prefigure the child’s future health.

[Oral health, a public health issue in 2023: Reflections and actions of the ASPBD].

The first Dental Public Health Day, in 2001, was not only the starting point for the creation of the Association des Acteurs de la Santé Publique Bucco-Dentaire (ASPBD), but also for the recognition of this specialty in France, even though it had already been recognized by the American Dental Association as early as 1950. Every year, the ASPBD organizes a national oral health day. The ASPBD brings together the vast majority of French odontologists and academic researchers in the field, as well as other French-speaking academics.

[Therapeutic patient education in dental practice: For a pedagogical commitment].

The exponential development of chronic noncommunicable diseases requires a rethinking of health systems, which are commonly focused on the curative management of diseases. There is a need to reinvent them to involve lifelong health promotion. For patients, it is no longer just a matter of surviving an acute disease, but also of avoiding its occurrence, and even more often, learning to live and age with it.

Clinical and immunological characteristics of children diagnosed with-Type 1 diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aims: To find clinical and immunological signatures of the SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 pandemic on children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Methods: A single-centre, retrospective, observational study comparing the clinical and immunological characteristics of children diagnosed with T1D the year before and during the first 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Data extracted from the medical records included clinical and demographic parameters, COVID-19 PCR results and the presence of anti-islet, thyroid and celiac-related antibodies.

A proposal for an oral health educational programme for the first 1000 days of life: from pregnancy to childhood.

Aim: The aim of this paper is to highlight the need to consider oral health during the first 1000 days of a child's life with a view to developing appropriate educational programmes.

Context: The first 1000 days of life represent a window of opportunity for prevention in children. This concept is built on a consideration of the overall health of mother and child, taking into account social inequalities in health.

Linear growth of children with X-linked hypophosphatemia treated with burosumab: a real-life observational study.

Unlabelled: To assess the long-term efficacy of burosumab for pediatric patients with X-linked hypophosphatemia, focusing on linear growth. This multi-center retrospective study included 35 pediatric patients who began treatment with burosumab between January 2018 and January 2021. We collected clinical data, anthropometric measurements, laboratory results, and Rickets Severity Score (RSS), from 2 years prior to treatment initiation and up to 4 years after.

Post-operative anterior diaphragmatic hernias in children with Trisomy 21 after cardiac surgery.

Unlabelled: Morgagni hernias account for less than 5% of congenital diaphragmatic hernias. They are characteristically retrosternal and bilateral, with right-sided predominance. An association between Trisomy 21 and diaphragmatic hernias resembling Morgagni hernia has been reported, but the effect of cardiac surgery on its formation has not been investigated.

Multiomic Mapping of Acquired Chromosome 1 Copy-Number and Structural Variants to Identify Therapeutic Vulnerabilities in Multiple Myeloma.

Purpose: Chromosome 1 (chr1) copy-number abnormalities (CNA) and structural variants (SV) are frequent in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) and are associated with a heterogeneous impact on outcomes, the drivers of which are largely unknown.

Experimental Design: A multiomic approach comprising CRISPR, gene mapping of CNAs and SVs, methylation, expression, and mutational analysis was used to document the extent of chr1 molecular variants and their impact on pathway utilization.

Results: We identified two distinct groups of gain(1q): focal gains associated with limited gene-expression changes and a neutral prognosis, and whole-arm gains, which are associated with substantial gene-expression changes, complex genetics, and an adverse prognosis.

Oral Health Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices, and Literacy of Pregnant Women: A Scoping Review.

Purpose: Pregnancy is a state particularly sensitive to oral pathologies (periodontal and decay). The oral health status of pregnant women can have an impact on the outcome of the pregnancy and the oral health of the child to come. As in the general population, the oral health of pregnant women is socially determined and dependent on psychosocial factors, including factors related to health behaviours.

Optic pathway glioma and endocrine disorders in patients with and without NF1.

Background: Optic pathway gliomas (OPGs) are classified by anatomic location and the association with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Children with OPGs face sequelae related to tumor location and treatment modalities. We assessed the prevalence of endocrine dysfunction in children with OPGs and compared outcomes between those with and without NF1.

Symptoms and Glycemic Control in Young People With Type 1 Diabetes Following SARS-CoV-2 Infection: An Observational Study.

Context: Data is needed regarding the effect of SARS-CoV-19 infection on young people with established type 1 diabetes. Identifying the disease outcomes, short and long-term sequelae may help to establish an evidence-based prevention and education policy for sick days management and DKA prevention.

Objective: This work aims to describe clinical manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 infection in children, adolescents, and young adults with established type 1 diabetes (T1D) and explore the effects of COVID-19 on glycemic control and disease course.

Youth-onset type 2 diabetes in Israel: A national cohort.

Background: Prevalence of youth-onset type 2 diabetes (T2D) has increased worldwide, paralleling the rise in pediatric obesity. Occurrence and clinical manifestations vary regionally and demographically.

Objectives: We assessed the incidence, and clinical and demographic manifestations of youth-onset T2D in Israel.

The dynamics of two proteins of similar size, the globular lysozyme and the intrinsically disordered Huntingtin interacting protein, has been simulated in three states resembling a globule, a pre-molten globule, and a molten globule. A coherence time has been defined, measuring the delay in the display of a stochastic behaviour after a perturbation of the system. This time has been computed for two sets of collective variables: the projection of the phase point onto the positions and momenta subspaces ( and ), and the principal components (PCs) of positions and momenta produced by a covariance analysis in these subspaces ( and ).
