Objective: To analyze self-care conditioning factors in women and men with urinary incontinence symptoms living with the Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type 1.
Method: Qualitative study, based on the pragmatic phase of Praxis Model for Technology Development. Twelve women and five adult men living with Human T-Lymphotropic Virus Type 1, residing in Bahia, Brazil, participated in the study.
Piper fruits are one of the main dietary sources of , a fruit-eating bat largely responsible for dispersing their seeds. To investigate the mechanism of this plant-animal interaction, ripe and unripe fruits of were collected in the morning, afternoon, and night. The volatile organic compounds (VOC) were obtained through dynamic headspace (HS) and hydrodistillation (HD) and were analyzed by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector and GC-MS, resulting in the identification of ninety-five compounds.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an aquatic progressive resistance exercise (APRE) and PBM (associated or not) on morphology of skeletal muscle and biochemical markers using an experimental model of knee osteoarthritis (OA). Fifty male Wistar rats were randomly distributed into 5 groups: control group (CG); OA control (OAC); OA submitted to APRE (OAE); OA submitted to PBM (OAL); OA submitted to APRE and PBM (OAEL). Trained rats performed a water-jumping program carrying a load equivalent to 50-80% of their body mass strapped to their chest.

Although emerging, it is considered a rare disease in the Americas and, therefore, the objective was to report an atypical case of recurrent otitis with the formation of polyps in the ear canal in a domestic feline associated with lagochilascariasis in Brazil. A cat had a purulent exudate in one of her ears and responded poorly to treatments.
