[Modern diagnostic of agenesis of the corpus callosum in children].

Observations of the authors regarding main MRI symptoms of agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) and literature review on the structure of the corpus callosum in normalcy and pathology are presented. The authors emphasize that some cases of isolated ACC has been found during routine prenatal ultrasound examination. In this regard, prenatal MRI is more effective.

[Chromosome control of apomixis in maize-gamagrass hybrids].

The results of long-term studies on the transmission of the mode of asexual reproduction through seeds to maize from gamagrass, a closely related wild plant, performed in the Laboratory of Plant Cytology and Apomixis are summarized. The first apomictic hybrids between Zea mays and Tripsacum dactyloides were obtained in this laboratory more than 40 years ago and have been maintained until the present time. Cytogenetic studies on the hybrids have shown that at least nine chromosomes of the wild parent are necessary for the expression of asexual reproduction through seeds.

The materials of the Third International Conference on Apomixis held in Germany are presented. The oral presentations and most posters of the conference are discussed in detail. Based on comparing the materials of three international conferences, the global trends in investigations of apomixis are traced.
