We propose a quantum inverse algorithm (QInverse) to directly determine general eigenstates by repeatedly applying the inverse power of a shifted Hamiltonian to an arbitrary initial state. To properly deal with the strongly entangled inverse power states and the resultant excited states, we solved the underlying linear equation, both variationally and adaptively, to obtain a faithful inverse power state with a shallow quantum circuit. QInverse is singularity-free and successfully obtains the target excited states with an energy closest to the shift ω, which is difficult to reach using variational methods.

Background: The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury often occurs in young athletes, but it also occurs in middle-aged individuals and the elderly during recreational sports activities. Clinical outcomes after the ACL reconstruction depend on postoperative recovery of muscular strength. The current study aimed to evaluate the recovery of knee extension and flexion strength after ACL reconstruction surgery and to examine the relationship between preoperative and postoperative muscle strength by age and the type of graft used.

Aims: Circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) play a pivotal role in vasculogenesis and promote angiogenesis by secreting growth factors. Recent studies have suggested that erythropoietin (EPO) may accelerate not only angiogenesis but also vasculogenesis, beyond erythropoiesis. The aim of this study was to investigate whether two erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) modulate vascular-related factors and EPC mobilization in patients with chronic kidney disease stage G5 and dialysis (CKD G5 and 5D).

We describe a method for the simultaneous determination of eight kinds of phenylbenzotriazole-type mutagens (PBTA-1, -2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -7 and -8) in river water based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). The application of dopant-assisted atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) for the detection of the PBTAs was studied. The APPI technique provided higher PBTA signal intensities than those obtained with an electrospray ionization (ESI) source, and the APPI method was used for the determination of the PBTAs.

In the present study, we developed a rapid umu-microplate test system that uses the nitroreductase- and O-acetyltransferase-overproducing Salmonella typhimurium strain NM3009 and the O-acetyltransferase-overproducing S. typhimurium strain NM2009 to detect genotoxic activity in small volume samples. The assay was used to test the genotoxicity of several standard mutagens and environmental samples.
