The protective effect of naturally acquired humoral immunity against human papillomavirus (HPV) infection remains unclear. To investigate the role of infection-induced antibodies on HPV detection in heterosexual partners, we used data from 392 unvaccinated couples (females aged 18-25 years attended up to six visits over 2 years; males aged 17-37 years attended up to two visits 4 months apart) enrolled (2005-2011) in Montreal. Genital and blood samples were HPV DNA genotyped and tested for L1 antibody titers of 14 HPV genotypes.

In this multi-ancestry genome-wide association study (GWAS) and fine mapping study of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) subsites, we analysed 19,073 cases and 38,857 controls and identified 29 independent novel loci. We provide robust evidence that a 3' UTR variant in (rs78378222, T>G) confers a 40% reduction in odds of developing overall HNSCC. We further examine the gene-environment relationship of and variants demonstrating their effects act through both smoking and alcohol use.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of high-risk (HR) human papillomavirus (HPV) types by HPV vaccination status and the feasibility of using HPV L1 serology to identify HIV-negative men who have sex with men (MSM) who may be at risk for anal cancer. This cross-sectional study recruited HIV-negative MSM from a US metropolitan area. The prevalence of HR, quadrivalent, and nonavalent anorectal HPV DNA and HPV L1 serum antibodies was estimated.

Knowledge about the underlying causes of the individual occurrence of symptoms during acute COVID-19 disease and during the post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 is limited. In a German COVID-19 follow-up study, we assessed whether elevated antibody responses to herpesviruses were associated with symptom occurrence in acute COVID-19 disease (n = 96 participants) and during 20 months of follow-up (n = 62 participants). Serum samples were analyzed for their antibodies to herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1 and -2, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and Cytomegalovirus (CMV) using fluorescent bead-based multiplex serology.
