Conley-Morse-Forman theory for generalized combinatorial multivector fields on finite topological spaces.

We generalize and extend the Conley-Morse-Forman theory for combinatorial multivector fields introduced in Mrozek (Found Comput Math 17(6):1585-1633, 2017). The generalization is threefold. First, we drop the restraining assumption in Mrozek (Found Comput Math 17(6):1585-1633, 2017) that every multivector must have a unique maximal element.

The utility of cytopathology testing in lung transplant recipients.

Background: Lung transplant recipients routinely undergo bronchoscopy, during which bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid and transbronchial biopsies are usually obtained. These specimens are typically sent for microbiology, histopathology and cytopathology testing. Cytopathology testing is expensive, and its diagnostic value is questionable.

Polarization decorrelation in optical fibers with randomly varying elliptical birefringence.

Polarization decorrelation in single-mode fibers with randomly varying elliptical birefringence is studied. It is found that the effects of ellipticity on the polarization decorrelation length depend on the relative sizes of the beat length and the autocorrelation length of the birefringence fluctuations in the fiber. However, the evolution of the differential group delay remains unaffected by ellipticity.
