Introducion: The malimplantation of the total knee arthroplasty (TKA) components is one of the main reasons for revision surgery. For determining the correct intraoperative femoral rotation several anatomic rotational axes were described in order to achieve a parallel, balanced flexion gap. In this cadaveric study prevalent used rotational femoral axes and a navigated functional rotational axis were compared to the flexion-extension axis defined as the gold standard in rotation for femoral TKA component rotation.

In rotator cuff repair, strong and reliable suturing is necessary to decrease failure rates. The biomechanics of two self-cinching stitches - the single-loop knot stitch (SLKS) and the double-loop knot stitch (DLKS) - and the modified Mason-Allen stitch (mMAS) were compared. Twenty-seven porcine infraspinatus tendons were randomized among the three stitches.

Tendon elongation after Achilles tendon (AT) repair is associated with the clinical outcome. Reliable suture techniques are essential to reduce gap formations and to allow early mobilization. Cyclic loading conditions represent the repetitive loading in rehabilitation.

Knowledge gaps and stigmatized perceptions regarding electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) among patients and health providers contribute to the underutilization of an important therapeutic modality. The proactive education of future advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) provides an opportunity to optimize the use of this evidence-based clinical practice. As part of a general course in psychiatry during the first year of nursing school, we dedicated 1 hour to treatment-refractory depression, including ECT, and a second hour to a summary discussion of mood disorders.

Selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs) have shown beneficial effects on muscle wasting, general physical function and bone properties in male mammals. However, data on the effects of SARMs in postmenopausal osteoporotic bone are scarce. We evaluated the effects of the SARM drug ostarine on postmenopausal osteoporotic bone in a rat osteoporosis model.
