Background: We have recently shown that, during acute severe COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (S) induces a cascade of events resulting in T cell apoptosis. Indeed, by neutralizing the protease activity of its receptor, ACE2, S induces an increase in circulating Angiotensin II (AngII), resulting in monocytic release of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and programmed T cell death.

Objective: Here, we tested whether SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines, known to cause the circulation of the vaccine antigen, S-protein receptor binding domain (RBD), might trigger the same cascade.

The dataset gathers available regulations of human activities and protection levels of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) of the European Union (EU). The MPA list and polygons were extracted from the MPA database of the European Environment Agency (EEA) and completed with available zoning systems (all were filtered for their marine area reported under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive). Fully-overlapping MPAs were merged.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex, chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, where immune dysregulation plays a critical role. We sought to explore the modulation of the pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFɑ) and TNF-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK), along with their respective autoantibodies, TNAb and TWAb, and to decipher potential associations between these and clinical characteristics which could assist personalized therapy in MS. We also assessed the complementarity to leading candidate biomarkers in MS patient monitoring, namely, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neurofilament light chain (NfL).

Currently available seasonal influenza vaccines confer variable protection due to antigenic changes resulting from the accumulation of diverse mutations. The analysis of new seasonal influenza vaccines is challenging in part due to the limitations of the traditional hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) assay with A/H3N2 strains. An improved and objective novel HAI assay was developed with recombinant virus-like particles (VLPs) and an egg-derived virus as agglutinins, the oseltamivir treatment of VLPs, human red blood cells, and using an automated image reader-based analysis of hemagglutination.

Refractoriness to initial chemotherapy and relapse after remission are the main obstacles to curing T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). While tumor heterogeneity has been implicated in treatment failure, the cellular and genetic factors contributing to resistance and relapse remain unknown. Here we linked tumor subpopulations with clinical outcome, created an atlas of healthy pediatric hematopoiesis and applied single-cell multiomic analysis to a diverse cohort of 40 T-ALL cases.
