- Out of 138 patients, 41% had THA for hips treated for SCFE, with female patients and higher preoperative slip angles increasing their risk.
- The results indicate that the risk of needing THA post-SCFE fixation is significantly higher than that of the general Finnish population, highlighting important predictive factors for clinicians.
Purpose: Titanium lunate arthroplasty (TLA) for Kienböck disease was introduced in 1984 to address the silicone-wear particle problem common to silicone lunate implants. We sought to study the outcome of TLA.
Methods: We identified 11 patients from our hospital database who had undergone TLA between 2001 and 2010.
Background And Aims: The natural history of Kienböck's disease is controversial. Only three papers report a pure natural history without treatment. We hypothesized that the natural course of Kienböck's disease may be better than reported.
