Introduction: Adolescence is a vulnerable period, where they try to initiate new things, sometimes wicked habits or high risk behaviours like smoking or alcohol consumption. Due to change in lifestyle a considerable number of social drinkers have shifted to heavy episodic drinking. Alcohol consumption plays a role in the development of obesity but the relationship between alcohol and weight is still unclear.

Nitrergic and purinergic interplay in inhibitory transmission in rat gastric fundus.

1 This study was undertaken to analyse the involvement of ATP in non-adrenergic non- cholinergic (NANC) relaxation and possible interplay between nitrergic and purinergic systems in rat gastric fundus. 2 Experiments were performed in vitro on strips of longitudinal muscle from rat gastric fundus, recording the mechanical activity as changes in isometric force. N(omega)-Nitro L-arginine (L-NA) (0.1-100 microM), an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase, reduced the inhibitory EFS-evoked effects.
