The cytochemical indicators of neutrophils of peripheral blood were analyzed in 30 patients with hypertension disease and isolated traumas of long tubular bones of lower extremities. It is established that in such patients the variations of microbicidal neutrophils systems manifest in the increase of content of cationic proteins and non-significant decrease of myeloperoxidase activity. This is one of mechanisms of immunity support during first 48 hours after trauma.

The particles accelerated thrombus formation as evidenced by blood analysis of rabbits with implanted emboli. Usefulness of both spherical and cylindrical PHEMA particles with enhanced haemostatic effect was demonstrated on the embolization of arterial anastomosis, fistulas of the lower extremity and abdominal cavity, haemangioma and arteriovenous malformation of the head of several children.

Tissue reaction on injection of the compositions, optimum microsphere size and morphology were investigated in the experiments on rats. The microspheres induced foreign body reaction characterized by an increased content of fibroblasts and mild infiltration of injection field by inflammatory cells.

Around a catgut thread, the cellular-tissue reaction according to the type of purulent inflammation occurred. A danger of oncogenic effect of catgut which manifested itself in proliferation and atypical hyperplasia of epithelium of the MG ducts was noted.

Introduction of the new system of metric sizes of the suture threads will allow surgeons to be properly orientated in the choice of the necessary suture material and make easier the work of services engaged in the development and realization of surgical suture materials.
