Iodine deficiency disorders is a sweeping term that includes structural and functional impairment of the thyroid gland.These clinical guidelines include algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of euthyroid goiter and nodular/ multinodular goiter in adults and children. In addition, these clinical guidelines contain information on methods for an adequate epidemiological assessment of iodine deficiency disorders using such markers as the percentage of goiter in schoolchildren, the median urinary iodine concentration, the level of neonatal TSH, the median thyroglobulin in children and adults.

[Risk factors for and prognostic value of multifocal atherosclerosis in patients with diabetes mellitus].

Aim: To study the prognostic value of multifocal atherosclerosis (MFA) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) at high risk for myocardial ischemia who need coronary angiography (CAG).

Subjects And Methods: The investigation included 148 patients: 25 with type 1 DM (DM1), 73 with type 2 DM (DM2), and 50 without DM who had undergone CAG. Duplex ultrasound scanning of lower limb vessels and brachiocephalic and renal arteries was carried out in all the patients.

Aim: To assess prevalence and risk factors of extra-coronary artery disease (peripheral artery (PA) disease (D) of lower extremities (LE), brachiocephalic arterial (BCA) stenosis (S), renal arterial (RA) S in type 1 and 2 (T1 and T2) diabetes (D) patients (P) with confirmed atherosclerosis of coronary arteries (CA).

Material: 100 P (48 with T2D, 18 with T1D, 34 without diabetes - PWD), with hemodynamically significant atherosclerosis of CA confirmed by coronary angiography.

Methods: All patients underwent duplex ultrasonography of PA LE, BCA, RA.

Hypothyroidism (HT) is one of the thyroid dysfunctions occurring with the use ofcordorone. The authors examined the clinical features of this condition in 26 patients living in Moscow and its region (mild and moderate iodine deficiency areas). The blood levels of thyrotropic hormone (TTH), free thyroxine (Т4) free triiodothyronine (T3), thyroid peroxidase antibodies, and lipid spectrum were estimated.

[Target thin-needle puncture biopsy in diagnosis of thyroid cancer].

One hundred medical histories of patients with thyroid cancer (TC) were analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups depending on the variant of thin-needle biopsy technique (TNB). In group 1TNB was performed with "blind" method (with palpation control)--43 cases, in group 2 target TNB (ultrasound-guided) was carried out--57 cases.
