Lipin-1 is a member of the evolutionarily conserved family of proteins and is expressed predominantly in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle. On the one hand, lipin-1 is an enzyme that catalyzes the dephosphorylation of phosphatidic acid to diacylglycerol (DAG) and thus participates in the metabolic pathways of biosynthesis of storage lipids in the cell, membrane phospholipids, and intracellular signaling molecules. On the other hand, lipin-1 is able to be transported from the cytoplasm to the nucleus and is a coactivator of lipid metabolism gene transcription.

Ellipsometry is a powerful and sensitive optical method for the investigation of surfaces and thin films. However, the absence of possibilities for direct interpretation of the ellipsometric spectra creates an impression of the complexity of this method and the difficulty in its application, so any approach for qualitative interpretation of the ellipsometric spectra is very desirable. This work is devoted to this problem with the example of the modulation of the ellipsometric spectra of a substrate by the resonances of a thin deposited film.

There are currently over a thousand indigenous cattle breeds well adapted to local habitat conditions thanks to their long history of evolution and breeding. Identification of the genetic variations controlling the adaptation of local cattle breeds for their further introduction into the genome of highly productive global breeds is a matter of great relevance. Studying individual populations of the same breed with the use of microsatellite markers makes it possible to assess their genetic diversity, relationships, and breed improvement potential.

Aim: To determine an association between trait anxiety (TA) and variable number tandem repeat (VNTR) polymorphisms in the DRD4 and DAT genes, as well as the prevalence of TA and the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in 25- to 64-year-old males with TA.

Subjects And Methods: A representative sample of 25 to 64-year-old males (n = 2149) was examined within the framework of the WHO MONICA program, MONICA-psychosocial subprogram, in 1984, 1988, and 1994. All new-onset arterial hypertension (AH), myocardial infarction (MI), and stroke cases were registered throughout the follow-up study (1984-2008).
