The article deals the modern concepts of the mechanism of pain in osteoarthritis. It was established that synovial inflammation and immune disorders play an important role in the pathogenesis of pain in osteoarthritis. Hyperproduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines supports inflammation and degradation of cartilaginous tissue in osteoarthritis.
