The iridium oxide (IrO) catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction used industrially (in proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers) is scarce and costly. Although ruthenium oxide (RuO) is a promising alternative, its poor stability has hindered practical application. We used well-defined extended surface models to identify that RuO undergoes structure-dependent corrosion that causes Ru dissolution.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is characterized by weakness and rapid fatigue of voluntary muscles. Here, we present two cases of early-onset MG, complicated with M-proteinemia and demyelinating neuropathy. Case one was diagnosed with MG at age 29, received tacrolimus post-thymectomy, and developed M-proteinemia and demyelinating neuropathies at age 66 before being diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma.

The Japanese Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (JSTH) published the first-ever disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) guidelines in 2009. Fifteen years later, the JSTH developed new guidelines covering DIC associated with various underlying conditions. These guidelines were developed in accordance with the GRADE system to determine the strength of the recommendations and certainty of the evidence.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) associated with hematologic malignancies, particularly acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), is characterized by marked fibrinolytic activation, which leads to severe bleeding complications. Therefore, appropriate diagnosis and management of DIC are crucial for preventing bleeding-related mortality. However, to date, no clinical guidelines have specifically addressed hematologic malignancy-associated DIC.

We present a case of X-linked thrombocytopenia (XLT) with a novel WAS gene variant expressing a normal amount of Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (WASp) in lymphocytes. XLT usually decreases WASp expression not only in platelets, but also in lymphocytes. However, there were cases, such as the present one, in which WASp was expressed normally in lymphocytes and absent only in platelets.
