Comprehensive treatment with dapagliflozin in elderly chronic kidney disease patients: Clinical efficacy and impact on body composition.

Background: Dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, is widely used for treating heart failure and chronic kidney disease (CKD). While its renoprotective effects are well established, concerns remain regarding its impact on muscle mass and function, especially in elderly patients.

Objective: To assess the effects of dapagliflozin on renal function, body composition, and muscle strength in elderly CKD patients.

Effectiveness for remission maintenance rate and safety of different rituximab regimens for treating anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis in Japan: a J-CANVAS study.

Rituximab (RTX) has been reported to effectively maintain remission in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV). In this multicenter study involving 57 patients who achieved remission after 24 weeks, we evaluated the effectiveness of RTX in maintaining remission in patients with AAV. Patients were divided into three groups based on RTX administration: continuous, induction phase-only, and maintenance phase-only groups.

Evaluation of dose calculation method with a combination of Monte Carlo method and removal-diffusion equation in heterogeneous geometry for boron neutron capture therapy.

Clinical research in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) has been conducted worldwide. Currently, the Monte Carlo (MC) method is the only dose calculation algorithm implemented in the treatment planning system for the clinical treatment of BNCT. We previously developed the MC-RD calculation method, which combines the MC method and the removal-diffusion (RD) equation, for fast dose calculation in BNCT.

Efficacy of Hypoxia-Inducible Factor Prolyl-Hydroxylase Inhibitors in Renal Anemia: Enhancing Erythropoiesis and Long-Term Outcomes in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.

Background/objectives: Renal anemia is one of the major complications associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Erythropoietin-stimulating agents (ESAs) are commonly used; however, some patients exhibit resistance. Hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl-hydroxylase inhibitors (HIF-PHIs) have emerged as a novel treatment for renal anemia, enhancing erythropoiesis and iron metabolism.

Glucocorticoid tapering pace in microscopic polyangiitis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis in Japanese real-world practice: A propensity score-matched retrospective cohort study from the J-CANVAS registry.

Objective: To assess the prevalence and outcomes among regimens of glucocorticoid tapering for microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) in real-world practice.

Methods: We retrospectively examined the Japan Collaborative Registry of ANCA-associated Vasculitis (J-CANVAS) registry, and evaluated the prevalence of glucocorticoid tapering regimens in the PEXIVAS trial. In patients with newly diagnosed MPA and GPA, we compared outcomes among standard and reduced pace regimens.
