Carbon monoxide poisoning after an ice storm in Kentucky, 2009.

Objectives: Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality during natural disasters. On January 26-27, 2009, a severe ice storm occurred in Kentucky, causing widespread, extended power outages and disrupting transportation and communications. After the storm, CO poisonings were reported throughout the state.

Imaging Tc-99m-labeled FGF-1 targeting in rats.

Recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-1) was radiolabeled with (99m)Tc by the HYNIC method. The (99m)Tc-FGF-1 retained its representative molecular mass, heparin affinity, cellular binding to both low (Kd = 9.5 nM) and high (Kd = 125 pM) affinity sites, and mitogenic activity.
