Context Sperm immobilization factor (SIF) isolated from Staphylococcus aureus has been implicated earlier in the laboratory in infertility due to its negative impact on sperm function. Moreover, SIF was found to bind not only to human and mouse spermatozoa but also to several bacteria. Among the array of bacteria, we selected Shigella flexneri to investigate if it shares antigenic determinants with spermatozoa.

Objectives: In this study, we explored the efficacy of methanolic extract of Thuja orientalis (TOME) as a novel antibacterial and antibiofilm agent against a cariogenic bacterium, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212.

Design: Antibacterial susceptibility studies were conducted and surface morphology analysis was performed using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Antibiofilm activity was evaluated through both qualitative and quantitative biofilm inhibition assays and validated by microscopic analysis.

Objectives: Non-typhoidal (NTS) commonly causes a self-limiting illness but invasive disease (iNTS) can be life-threatening. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) increases the risk of mortality. This systematic review aimed to estimate the proportion of NTS isolated in those attending healthcare services, serovar burden, AMR, serovar-specific AMR, and case fatality rate (CFR) in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Catastrophic spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) following thrombolysis poses a complex intersection of neurosurgical and cardiological challenges. This case report presents the institutional experience of a 66-year-old female who developed rapid-onset compressive myelopathy after thrombolysis for inferior wall myocardial infarction with injection streptokinase. SSEH, although rare, demands prompt recognition due to its potential for permanent neurologic injury and mortality.

Purpose: Distinct clinical phenotypes of pathological fetal heart rate (FHR) tracings may affect neonatal outcomes differently. This study aimed to determine and differentiate neonatal outcomes amongst the clinical phenotypes of pathological FHR tracing.

Methods: This prospective observational study included women in labour with pathological fetal heart rate tracing during delivery.
