The patient, a 56-year-old woman, was found during routine checkup to have a disorder of hepatic function. Abdominal ultrasonography showed an ill-defined hypoechoic mass in the head and body of the pancreas; however, no blood-flow signal was observed within the tumor on Doppler ultrasonography. Abdominal computed tomography showed a low-density area in the arterial and portal venous phases.

The Kyushu Hematology Organization for Treatment Study Group (K-HOT) consisted of 22 institutions specializing in hematology in Kyushu. This study is aimed at reviewing the daily practice of infection control for the treatment of hematological malignancies in our group. Nominal questionnaires were mailed to the hematology department in each institution from November 2001 to April 2002.

We report an extremely rare case of a primary collision neoplasm in the lung consisting of malignant melanoma and adenocarcinoma. A malignant melanoma was histologically diagnosed by a transbronchial lung biopsy of the lung nodule in a 61-year-old woman, in whom there was no demonstrable primary malignant melanoma found elsewhere. However, at autopsy the above two components of the pulmonary tumor were both histologically and immunohistochemically confirmed.

We have recently treated a case of autoimmune neutropenia in a 57-year-old male. Because neutropenia persisted despite the administration of prednisolone for 30 days, daily subcutaneous injection of human recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) at a dosage of 100 micrograms was started. Neutrophil count increased gradually and reached a plateau of 5,000/microliters by day 25 after administration of rhG-CSF.
