Area-wide diabetes care: the Lanarkshire experience with primary health care teams 1994-1997.

In Lanarkshire (population 560,000) an area-wide diabetes database was introduced and process of care was measured. The number of patients with diabetes identified was 11,621 (prevalence = 2.08).
