Hiring in the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Board Certification Era: PHM Leader Perspectives.

Objectives: The designation of pediatric hospital medicine (PHM) as a board-certified (BC) subspecialty has led to uncertainty about the importance of PHM board certification in hiring pediatric hospitalists and ambiguity in counseling trainees interested in PHM careers about the decision to pursue fellowship. We sought to determine the importance of PHM board eligibility or certification in hiring practices.

Methods: We conducted an online, cross-sectional, survey-based study of individuals who self-identified as PHM division leadership utilizing the PHM Division Director Listserv and participant recruitment at a national meeting.

Decreasing Unnecessary Antibiotic Usage in Patients Admitted With Bronchiolitis.

Background And Objectives: Bronchiolitis is a viral syndrome that occurs in children aged <2 years and is a common reason for admission to children's hospitals. The American Academy of Pediatrics bronchiolitis guideline discourages routine antibiotic therapy for bronchiolitis. Despite this, there is high use of antibiotics in this patient population.

Characteristics of Hospitalized Children Positive for SARS-CoV-2: Experience of a Large Center.

Objectives: Define the spectrum of disease in pediatric inpatients with a positive SARS-CoV-2 test result in a manner relevant to pediatric hospital medicine.

Methods: Retrospective case series of all patients aged <22 years hospitalized at our institution with a positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) polymerase chain reaction test result between May 1, 2020, and September 30, 2020. Demographic, clinical, and outcome data were collected and analyzed.
