A novel synthesis of MgO/ZnO nanocomposite using a template, namely an eggshell membrane (ESM) was attempted. The nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, UV-visible, FTIR, Raman, DLS (zeta potential and particle size distribution), FESEM with EDX, and HRTEM analysis. The presence of periclase cubic MgO (space group Fm3m) and hexagonal wurtzite ZnO (space group P63mc) structures was verified by the XRD results.

Metallothioneins (MTs) are cysteine-rich, metal-sequestering cytosolic proteins that play a key role in maintaining metal homeostasis and detoxification. We had previously characterized NmtA, a MT from the heterocystous, nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium sp. strain PCC 7120 and demonstrated its role in providing protection against cadmium toxicity.

Azithromycin is a macrolide antimicrobial agent of the azalide group with a broad spectrum of activity against gram-negative and gram-positive bacterial organisms. Tolfenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the fenamate group, which is used extensively in humans and animals due to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. There is dearth of literature on any type of drug interaction between azithromycin and tolfenamic acid in any species, including human beings and alteration of its pharmacokinetics by fever.
