The fermented milk matsoni is a traditional, national food product of both Georgia and Armenia. Little is known about the effects of biogeography and milk type on the microbial biodiversity of matsoni or the fungal composition of matsoni fermentations. High-throughput marker-gene sequencing was used to survey the bacterial and fungal communities of matsoni from different milk types and regions throughout Armenia and Georgia.

We determined the molecular weight and some properties of multiple forms of phenol oxidase from tea leaves and four other perennial plants. It was shown that multiple high- and low-molecular forms of phenol oxidase differed in substrate specificity. Low-molecular forms of the enzyme mostly demonstrated hydroxylase activity, while high-molecular forms showed catechol oxidase activity.

The tested labeled compounds were supplied in plants through roots as water solutions. The larger part of the assimilated benzoic acid forms conjugates with low-molecular-weight plant peptides.

Environmental contamination by explosives is a worldwide problem. Of the 20 energetic compounds, 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), and octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX) are the most powerful and commonly used. Nitroamines are toxic and considered as possible carcinogens.
