Objective: Optimization of the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss (SHL) using a calcium channel blocker - nimodipine.
Material And Methods: The study consists of experimental and clinical sections. The experiment involved 42 white outbred rats, which were used for modeling SHL according to the original method and treatment with nimodipine followed by histological control.
This morphological study was carried out using white rats with experimental sensorineural loss of hearing. A method for simulation of ototoxic loss of hearing in laboratory animals is proposed. Investigations with the use of light microscopy revealed elements of the apoptotic mechanism of cell death in the spiral organ of rats with sensorineural loss of hearing.

It was shown that patients with the rapidly developing form of the disease have lower titers of antibodies against nerve growth factor compared with their normal values and an unfavourable ratio of activities of leukocytic elastase and its inhibitor. The patients were divided into three groups based on the level of antibodies against nerve growth factor.

General oxidative (GO) and antioxidative (GAO) activities, malonic dialdehyde (MDA) and catalase (C) levels in blood plasma were measured in 60 patients given original perftoran-based therapy and in 40 patients receiving traditional treatment. Management of acute sensorineural loss of hearing with the use of perftoran proved efficacious in 95% of the cases compared with 80% using traditional therapy.
